Engvall and Mikheyev are both dead Cap for us.

Nearly 3M being wasted. Mikheyev has a slight chance of bouncing back but I'd move on personally.

Clear that space and bring in 2 better UFA options

Engvall is a better skating Freddy Gauthier with how soft he is and unwilling to complete checks despite his large size.

Him and Mikheyev are also offense killers, routinely failing to convert on odd man rushes and slot chances. They don't play a strong playoff forechecking game, have next to no offensive capabilities outside of a few lucky passes, and are both on the team simply for their PK ability which can be filled by other better options

Let's focus on stats that may or may not even measure what they think they measure. That's more important than winning.

Yeah, who cares about goals and scoring chances. It's not like they're important to winning.

Super scout dreamkur will determine wether a player stays or goes by looking at them.

Stats are only meaningful if they're both accurate and reliable.

I actually just measure the circumference of the head.

Well, they're more accurate and reliable than your opinion or mine. So they win out in this instance.

They are playing in a defensive role and they still put up 25-30 points a year while not giving up much defensively. They are not dead cap.

I also highly doubt the Leafs want to completely overhaul their bottom 6 + PK.

Bottom 6 is gonna see some changes pretty much regardless.

Simmonds, Thornton and likely Kerfoot are departing

47 > 65 IMO. He showed flashes of scoring. I'd be OK with 47 as our #4C if we can come up with a grinding line #3 like Goodrow Kuraly and Coleman.

Leafs want to improve as a team but don't want to make any changes

Kerfoot is liked and they do t want to move him as a 3C

Mikheyev and Engvall are liked and being kept

Spezza is going to be kept(deserves it)

Simmonds and Joe are the only players being replaced in the bottom 6 and a lot of people are suggesting going with Brooks or Joey Anderskn for one of those spots

We seem to be trying to run the same team back with the bare minimum I terms of roster changes.

Nick Foligno - Auston Matthews - Mitch Marner
Max Domi - John Tavares - William Nylander
Lawson Crouse - Erik Haula - Barclay Goodrow
Jujhar Khaira - Luke Glendening - Jason Spezza

Morgan Rielly - T.J. Brodie
Jake Muzzin - Justin Holl
Rasmus Sandin - Timothy Liljegren
ex. Zach Bogosian

Jack Campbell
James Reimer

Adam Brooks + Nicholas Abruzzese + Roni Hirvonen for Max Domi at 4M

Ilya Mikheyev + Travis Dermott for Lawson Crouse

Pierre Engvall for Jujhar Khaira

Alex Kerfoot claimed by the Seattle Kraken

Barclay Goodrow - 2.85M per for 4 years

You don't need to overhaul your entire roster every year to improve your team either.

Kerfoot, Hyman, Thornton, Galchenyuk, Foligno, and Simmonds are all regulars who may not be back next year. If you add Mikheyev and Engvall to that list as well, you are only looking at the Big 4 and Spezza coming back next year.

I highly doubt the Leafs are overhauling half of their offense. Bringing in 5 new guys, which is likely what is going to happen this year, is already fairly excessive.

I doubt kerfoot is gone. Seattle won't take him at 3.5M and they have better options in dermott or Holl. Most likely dermott is gone

Hyman will be replaced by Bunting or someone similar

Galchenyuk will be back I think but if we move on it will be an internal replacement like Robertson

Foligno was barely a leaf and was a trade deadline rental so he wasn't even in the plans long-term

Leafs are going to most likely have 4 of the same 6 bottom 6 players

They probably add 1 top 6 LW and 1 3rd line LW.

It's looking busy but doing nothing. We aren't making any significant adjustments to the roster and are going to be keeping the same bottom 6 play style which will not succeed in the playoffs.

Mikheyev won't be retained next year on a new deal. He's a guy that will either go back to the KHL if he stinks or have a rebound year and sign somewhere with more money available.

We should be using him to gain 2 mid round picks in 2021 and 2022 as we have next to no picks the next 2 drafts and a weak prospect pool in general

25 points in 32 games. Not great but not bad. He's had two bad series in a row though.

He hasn't showed up in the playoffs since getting paid...and 0 PP goals in his last 73 regular season games despite the most PP TOI...terrible.
