Hope so, he'd be a very good add and is a guy who can make sure nylander/marner don't get complacent on the PP challenging them for time on whatever top unit we go with

I'd pay Amirov + for him if he signed 4 years by 5M

The more I play around with capfriendly the more I'm finding we can fix our teams offense pretty easily if we move my favourite player in Rielly.

Really tough decision on Mo, but if we can trade Mo for a 10-20 1st + ELC player and then use the 5M to get Gologoski at 3.5ish we have 1.5M extra to fit in a really good 5th forward like buchnevich

I wouldn't use 3.5M on Gogo, he's kinda..bad now.

Maybe something like 2.75-2.85M for McCabe and find a 3rd pairing guy who's a bit more offensively inclined for PP.

McCabe issue was I heard he had a severe injury which impacted his skating. So not sure how he comes back this year.

There aren't too many good puck moving defenseman available in UFA. We could try and go a NYI style defense where it's more so physical and moving the puck out by committee. Getting Oleksiak + Savard(cheaper cost than normal as he's been poor this year and is old )

Muzzin - Brodie
Oleksiak - Holl
Dermott - Savard

Lilijgren as the 7th D who rotates with Dermott and Savard

Sandin as Marlies #1D playing 25 minutes a game and developing for 1 more year

Took him out for most of last season but don't think it'll take him out a 2nd season, he's young, should be ready for this season.

Mike Rielly or Brandan Montour could be interesting depending on their cost.

Really curious what Schwartz wants.. could be a great option for the top 6 LW slot depending on how the expansion draft shapes up

I'm very high on Mike Reilly. IMO he's a legit top-four puck-moving defenseman, with better defensive impacts than Morgan. His league-wide reputation doesn't seem great, so I think he could be signed pretty reasonably.

I'd be open to moving Morgan for a haul of pick + prospect capital (maybe somewhere like LA, where they want to take the next step and have the cap space + assets to do it). Then sign Reilly for a lower price to fill that hole.

Reilly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
Sandin - Dermott
Liljegren

Liked what I saw of Reilly with the little I saw of him with the Bruins but Oleksiak would be my first choice. Doubt we are moving Morgs but if they could Oleksiak and Reilly should come in cheaper.

At the end of the day we need a more stable lineup. Changing too many players on a yearly basis can't be a good recipe for winning the SC.

1/3 of what Marner got. Expect some UFAs to be overpaid. It is the RFAs that should not.

I cant tell if you think a career 4th liner making 1/3rd of Marner is a compliment or a criticism

This coming from someone who thinks Marner is overpaid by 1.5 mill and 2 years too short.

Oilers fan coming in peace. I wanted to ask about Zach Hyman. How would you guys describe him and his game?

If you are sad that David Clarkson didn't accept your offer, and are happy with that Lucic deal, you'll love the Hyman contract.

He's a two-way power-forward with a high motor and bad hands.

Good hustle
Can fly the zone early for those empty netters
Great on forecheck
Better on RW than LW imo
Can sometimes have tunnel vision or fail to get pucks to linemates
Can miss on prime scoring chances, isn't a natural goal scorer, he works hard for all of his goals

If he wasn't with Matthews etc, he'd look like an elite 3rd liner, maybe in the same vein people look at Coleman or Goodrow.

I think he would work alright with McDavid, I could see him hitting 50 points consistently if you rolled Leon-McDavid-Hyman

I worry about a term over 2-3 years.

He's looked at times like he's an unstoppable force with the puck on his stick grinding along the boards, yet in the playoffs he's been softer and careless with the puck

He's a relentless worker and has improved his skillset a lot since 2017. He can actually complete and finish passes now and has the ability to generate his own looks.

For the Oilers he would be a player who likes to have the puck or is working towards getting the puck. He isn't a guy who can stand in a sniping position and finish a glorious McDavid pass.

I think the Oilers if they get Hyman will get a 55+ point guy for 3 years and then he'll decline fast. Oilers if they can give him 5 years and 6M it's worth it imo. They should avoid going 7 years I'd set max term at 6 years and 6.5M (still an overpayment but the Oilers like him and can use him)

They shouldn't play Puljuarvi with him on 97s line. They should get a shooting 3rd winger. A guy like Hoffman ideally would be good as the 3rd wheel on that line

wouldn't a better analogy be if you purchase something (McCann) for $5 (Hallander + 7th) and then someone steals what you purchased, you're then out not only the $5, but the thing you purchased?

The only difference here is that we KNOW that we're going to lose one of our purchases/possessions to this bully.
Yes. The major factor being that you know that no matter what you do with your money, someone is coming to take it haha if I knew someone was coming to take $100 from me... Or I could buy a tv with it real quick, and then lose my $100 dollar tv....it doesn't much matter lol I didn't lose $100 plus a tv. I just lost my $100. Just turned it into something different in the meantime lol but I think we're in agreeence
/saying the same thing

hard worker, creates scoring chances from digging the puck out and being around the net, can help a cycle game, not overly physical, good skater but nothing special.

This hurt my head too. Kerfoot and McCann are not equal value $5 bills where one is just in "nicer condition".
Hollander & a 7th for McCann was the trade. We already have Kerfoot buddy.
They're saying if McCann is picked, we lost Hollander and a 7th to save Kerfoot. That's correct. We didn't lose Hollander and a 7th and McCann. Hollander and the 7th ARE McCann.
