Actually Kyle put us in the Marleau situation when he signed 3 forwards with Marner pending for half the cap. We had plenty of cap space while Lou was here.

lou could have had the framework set up for every damn rfa( or hell signed nylander to a new contract the year prior) but he was too busy spending seconds on plac and boyle

i get the hate for dubas but the blind support for lou is dumfounded at this point.

Even Mike Babcock admitted he and Lou knew the third year of the Marleau contract would be an issue.

You can admit it too

Babs probably was the one who wanted Marleau. All three years were dumb but Kyle knew of the third year but he pretty much turned it into an anchor after he signed JT, Willie and Matty and decided to offer Mitch 11m. He could have bridged any/all of the 3 amigos and eaten Marleau's cap hit. You can admit that, no ?? It is like blaming Dubas for signing JT for 7x11 when they need cap space to sign Amirov in 4 years.

Agreed, blame Lou for giving Marleau that third year but Kyle knew about it and he fumbled it when he had to sign the greedy 3. Maybe Lou's plan was not to sign an $11m player and/or bridge Marmer in which case he'd have plenty of cap space for that 3rd year. Sorry, Kyle blew it.

So in a scenario where;

3 star players make lots of money
vs
1 washed up replacement level player makes lots of money,

you think the 3 star players are the issue?

Also, not even Lou agrees with just “eating the contract” when he just did a similar move, at a similar cost to what Dubas had to do, in order to keep other key players and make free agent signings.

What are the chances the Leafs are still interested in Foligno despite his really disappointing and short stint? It seemed to me he was headed back to Columbus where he has a lot of ties?

Sounds like he’s going to Columbus or Minnesota

I hated the whole Marleau signing but Kyle had options with the 4 forwards. One might have been not to overpay, another was bridge. Yup Lou was not able to stick handle around the Ladd contract and he cost them those picks. Is anybody blaming Snow for the Ladd deal or are they ripping Lou for today's deal ??

High, it's Leafs, Wild or Blue Jackets right now but probably one of the later two

Some reputable guys like CJ and David Alter still seem to think the leafs only protect 4 forwards.

I can't wrap my head around it unless there's a big trade being done with Seattle.

Kerfoot + Big prospect(Liljegren or Robertson)/pick in return for 2-3 roster players (goalie + forward + depth defenceman) maybe? One thing to remember with Seattle is that they can pick 32 but a bunch of them will have to go on waivers as it's pretty rare to be draft eligible and waiver exempt.

After today the only way they go 4-4 is if they have a deal with Seattle lined up

I think the Leafs have some interest. He seems to not reciprocate that though. CBJ and Minny are the front runners.

I thought Hallander was playing a lot of wing, if he's pushing Brooks down I'm presuming he's going to be playing center instead?

I very rarely post anymore and figured I would lay that one out there just an hour or so before confirmation, and enjoy watching the haters have a field day.

It was such a specific player nobody ever mentions and such a specific statement I thought for sure someone would jump on it.

But nobody actually bit which was refreshing, so apologies for not responding but wasnt intended to be a real discussion on the player.

Leave Kerfoot, Dermott, Holl unprotected and and move on. None are worth losing any assets for

Intrigued, what was your reason for "laying it out there"?

One could also partially blame the flat cap and COVID. If it didn’t happen they would have had more money.

???? You suggested that the leafs would play hallander this year. Because you knew he was getting traded.

To….. see people say he sucked? I’m lost

Xxx - Mathews - Marner
Xxx - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev - McCann - Xxx
Xxx - Spezza - Simmonds

To me these are the only players that are guaranteed to have spots.

Leafs need to add some grit/bangers/energy players to compliment that lineup to we're another 1st rd exit

Snow signed him. Lou was handcuffed. Lou has been great for the Islanders. Of course, people blame Lou for the deal, but it is clear he was painted into a corner on that.

I'm assuming we go for cheap bottom 6 guys like Glendening or Kuraly.

I'd love any of Glendening, Kuraly, Martinook or Sorenson for the 4th line spot.

Need a Tyler Bertuzzi, Miles Wood, Blake Coleman, etc...type of add for the top 9. Not just 1, but 2

Has never hit on any deals but passes but when he finally has the opportunity to get one right, he dexides to pass on it and instead "lay one out there to let the haters have a field day".

Sounds believable to me.
