I might be one of Greenways biggest fans, so I'd be interested. If Greenway continues to improve and becomes a legit top 6 power forward that's one of the biggest problems solved for the Leafs. he only makes 2.1M next season as well.

Continue to improve? He's going to be 25 next season.

I think of Berger at this point as a troll. He was completely sincere back in the day as the Fan's "hockey fan reporter" and he really was a die-hard Leafs' fan. However it broke his brain receiving so much mockery from his fellow fans as the internet/social media culture grew that now he's dedicated to trolling the same audience he once represented on the radio. And it is obvious that there's dozens of social media "reporters" and "commentators" and anons who have more interesting takes than him, for free.

Minnesota's Greenway is glacial. If he skated better I'd be interested. Then again if he skated better he'd be unavailable.

I wouldnt believe a word Berger says.

Nylander is probably the most cost effective forward we have aside from Matthews on this team. Trading him would be a huge mistake considering he's coming off a playoff that no other Leaf had.

If there are players to trade to help with cap situation and re-tweaking the team as has been suggested. Reilly and Marner make the most sense.

As far as I am concerned Nylander is untouchable based on contract and production.

Forgot you're essentially over the hill now a days at 24. my bad. Definitely won't help playing with 2 of AM, Billy Wheels, JT, or Mitchy.

Believing that guys don't improve much in their mid 20s.

vs

Believing you should trade your best defensive prospect for a guy in his mid 20s who has never touched 15 goals in a season and hoping he'll score more if you gift him top line minutes.

We're not talking about Liljegren. :sarcasm:

I'm probably in the minority the way Sandin gets talked about here, and I'd love to be wrong but I don't see him being much more than a bottom pairing D man.

His skating is a real issue, if he can fix that he might be something more than AHL fodder.

Same here, bottom pair PP specialist.

Undersized and slow, not a great combo no matter how good you are with the puck on your stick. His skating is really going to need to improve to be anything more than that.

There is three years between Greenway and Sandin and Sandin only has 37 nhl games under his belt. I haven't watched Greenway, but being 24 right now compared to Sandin being 21... age arguments make little sense.

On the Sandin talk, I was saying people overrated him from the start. They just looked at point totals and saw creative highlights, and thought he will be a star. I don't think it's Sandin why are down, people had unrealistic expectations and now when those aren't being fulfilled, they think he isn't good anymore. Anyone who watched him with the Marlies knew he had lots to work on.
Honestly Liljegren was getting underrated because of the hype on Sandin.

24 years + 210 NHL games without really any huge impact.

Ken Holland gonna overpay for Zach Hyman

Hyman is coming back to Toronto 1st day of free agency on home discount. He was on St. Clair last night partying it up with Spezza and friends. He didnt seem like he was leaving. Book it.

Yes, he looks lost in the d-zone, at least if the puck is being cycled. But I don't think there are many 20 year old d-men who are confident and intelligent transition players like Sandin.

It is very much our fanbases character to overhype guys but it's also in our character to jump off the bandwagon after 2-3 mistakes in the playoffs.

Keith deal might not be too bad for Edmonton. No free agent ever wants to sign there and Caleb Jones is a fringe NHL'er. Realistically that additional ~4.7 million likely didn't have an avenue to be spent any better in free agency and they didn't trade away anything of consequence.

As long as he can be a top-four defensemen for them for two years they'll get their money's worth.
