I think it's gonna be more complicated than that. I fully believe Liljigren is an NHL caliber player right now, but how does he fit with what we have? He's not a big, heavy PK type of Dman which is a role our defense is missing. Without Bogo we really only have Muzzin who's good on the PK, Holl is ok and then a few guys (Rielly/Brodie/Dermott) who can PK if you need them to but aren't strong at it.
If Kerfoot goes in expansion and the all the signed Dman come back we really need a heavy PK presence back there in that spot (eg. Bogo) - If Dermott goes I see us pursuing a Bogisian type of Dman for the left side which creates nice spot for Lily to step into. I see him best suited to filling the same role as Dermott - good ES defender and a guy who can skate and move the puck to help balance a pair with a big/physical PK guy. Longterm I like the potential to develop into a Brodie type of player, a quality top 4 two-way guy who's strength is at ES, but capable as a 2nd PP and 2nd PK unit guy if needed.
