Do we still move Brodie?
If Klingberg is heading to Robidas island, you can add Murphy and keep Brodie.

Rielly - Murphy
McCabe - Brodie
Giordano - Liljegren

OR

Rielly - Murphy
McCabe - Liljegren
Brodie - Timmins

Still feel like we need someone to push McCabe down and it’s not Brodie he’s gotta be physical but I do like how timmins played with Brodie last year

Well you can switch McCabe with Brodie.

Rielly - Murphy
Brodie - Liljegren
McCabe - Timmins/Lagesson

I know we were harping on Sanheim last year but seems to be having a great year with the Flyers right now...6.25M seems hard to fit in though.

Toronto
Reilly needs a shutdown guy and Murphy fills that need
I do think a Brodie Liljegren pairing would work to allow Liljegren a little more freedom up ice
McCabe Timmins if Timmins stays Healthy is a nice 3rd pair if not have enjoyed Lagessons play thus far

Is Mario Ferraro bad? I liked him watching him on the sharks but rarely.

He seemed like a good long term peace but he is getting negative reviews.

I’m not sure outside of the 3 Calgary d who would work?

Peeke is a scratch.
Schenn got too much
Ferraro is apparently no good
Pelech/poluck?
Edmonton isn’t punting so a retained ekholm is unlikely.

I don’t see a clear path outside of Calgary tbh

Any ideas that I am missing?

The Leafs should be in no rush to do anything. They can coast with this lineup and wait until better players than Zadorov or Connot Murphy become available. Aim higher.
Connor Murphy is a pretty damn good Dman. I don’t know who that is better is really going to become available. Especially that we would have the assets to bring in or the cap space to keep.
Even if a true top pairing guy becomes available are you willing to give up Cowan, Knies + to get him and how do we find the cap space to keep them?

Nick Seeler is a solid bottom pairing option. Extremely physical and a good skater

Seattle - Currently on the outs - Adam Larsson is RD and an upcoming UFA.
Philly -
I doubt they continue their pace, likely sellers - Walker has proven to be a good dman.
Arizona - below .500 team - Matt Dumba could add a physical element.

With Klingberg out, I like our cap flexibility.

Bring in a RHD - let's say Chris Tanev (50%) for Alex Steeves/Roni Hirvonen + 2024 NYI 3rd Round Pick + 2025 Chicago's 5th

We would still be cap compliant with 3 spares:

Matthew Knies - Auston Matthews - Mitch Marner
Tyler Bertuzzi - John Tavares - William Nylander
Nick Robertson - Max Domi - Calle Jarnkrok
Bobby McMann - David Kampf - Noah Gregor
Ryan Reaves

Morgan Rielly - Chris Tanev (this pair worked at the WC)
Jake McCabe - Timothy Liljegren
Mark Giordano - TJ Brodie
WIlliam Lagesson - Connor Timmins

Ilya Samsonov
Joseph Woll

Leafland
Both our young goalies have trouble with rebounds and guys crashing the net. We need two big physical crease clearing dmen.
Right now we do not have one dman capable of clearing the net or making it difficult for the opposing player to get to the net.

Nothing will happen till ljiligren comes back.
Keep our fist

Tanev
3rd + 5 + Abruzzies

Nothing will be done until ljiligren comes back and we see what we have in Timmins.

This is the Nylander I have been waiting for he can carry a team on his back, those to can't for 2 or 2.5 more I want Willy.
In Sweden he showed me that his play rises to the occasion, he had so much pressure on him to perform he didn't break.
He has always been good in the playoffs but I think this year he will do something special .
He is driving to the net going into the dirty areas to score not to the perimeter
Will be watching really closely to see if he does it consistently against the tougher teams . Bruins and florida are our next to tougher opponents.
I think he will
The great thing is it means the end of Marner, sweet justice. There is no way we can keep both now.

Depending on the cost, Hanifin would be my top choice right now.

Rielly - Brodie
Hanifin - Liljegren
McCabe - Lagesson/Timmins/Giordano
