Lindholm l
I think it’ll take a little more than that. Hanifin would be a great addition though.

To Toronto: Noah Hanifin
To Calgary: 1st Rounder, John Klingberg, Mikko Kokkonen, Brandon Lisowsky
Lindholm deadline trade 50 % retained
1st (2) 2nd rd pks John Moore vaakenan

I would wait till the off-season and see if Hanifin wants to sign here

Trade a 3rd + a prospect foe a defensive dma

Ethan Bear is still a UFA. He's still recovering from surgery I believe but I still hope they can give him a contract to work out his conditioning. I thought he was very solid with Vancouver last year.

I also hope they talk to Puljujarvi. I think he could be an interesting depth piece if healthy.

Puljujarvi could make a good linemate for Kampf. Good skating, good defensively, can carry the puck. Comtois has 5 points in 5 games with the Chicago Wolves, on an AHL only contract. Kiefer Bellows has 7 points in 5 points with the Marlies, on a PTO. There are some forward bodies, good sized guys, who could be added.

Puljujarvi could be an interesting option.

Gregor - Kampf - Puljujarvi

Could be a really good 4th line.

Would be perfect could even get rid of Gregor for a pic and side mcmann on his strong side
I’ve really liked Gregor. He seems like the perfect 4th liner. Decent offensively and defensively. Can play with a little bit of an edge. He’s fast and has decent IQ out there. Can’t really ask for much more from a 4th line player.

Puljujarvi would be a big gamble coming off hip surgeries. I’d give him a try but wouldn’t be surprised if McMann was even a better option to begin with.

Puljujarvi you'd offer a PTO with the Marlies, with the hand shake, that if he performed to expectations, he'd earn a league minimum NHL contract. It's a way of giving the guy a test drive.

McMann had ONE great game with us... so he's earned a longer runway, before we start looking to replace him. I agree, I've liked Gregor's game too... good speed.

McMann played solid even last year during his 10 NHL games. Would be nice to see him stay healthy and be able to contribute on that 4th line over Reaves.

A schenn type of deal iam fine with 3rd + prospect

we've already moved 2024 2nd and 3rd rounders, 2025 1st 2nd and 3rd as well as 2026 2nd rounder so no I don't think I would trade a 3rd for anyone available as a rental. maybe for a depth 6th dmen we can move one of our 3 5th rounds this year and maybe a 23-24 year old prospect whose very unlikely to make it. with all the UFA's we currently have I would lean more towards selling and then bring up youngsters and see how they do. can't do any worst then we have done in the past. regain some assets and then go back to buying at the deadline next year after we reload on defense this coming off season. some of the picks/prosects we could gain might help acquire a top 4 Dmen that we need.

Countering this... if it's a player with term, or a player whom you can agree on the terms of extension, I have no problems with this. Pure rental, we should beware, there I agree.

but I don't see the need to a sign and trade myself. that will probably be more costly then just the rental with a chance to re-sign later.

I get what you are saying, and I didn't mean to suggest a sign and trade... just a conversation that the player we are acquiring is open to an extension, and a rough estimate as to what the price is.

We have the islanders 3rd unless it is conditional

What's the deal with Kyilington these days, I know he's injured and most of the focus is on Zadorov, but I wonder if he's a better target than even Hanifin due to the cost.

Kylington hasn’t played since the 21-22 season. Who knows if he’ll ever play again. Definitely not a better target.

Well, his reason for absence isn't physical, it was for mental health reasons, which is completely understandable.

This article from the late summer says he was looking forward to this upcoming season.
Flames' Oliver Kylington opens up on mental health struggles: 'I almost hit a wall'

I could see why he may not want to join mid-season, but if he did, it could be an option. Either way, hopefully, he gets himself sorted to the point where he's feeling well and can resume playing.

Perhaps it's best as a summer consideration.

I don’t think bringing someone struggling with mental health into this market would be the smartest move.

I offer him up all day, don't think it would be enough for Calgary. I like Abruzzese and think on the right team, he can be a 30-40 point 3rd line winger who also runs the 2nd pp. I don't think he fits on this iteration of the Leafs.

Sean Walker has been playing well for Philly. He makes 1.5M less than Klingberg. There could be a deal to be made around Klingberg+X for Walker. Philly has cap space and is in sell mode for the season. Walker shouldn't have enough value to fetch more than a 3rd in that deal.

yea I know we do my point is we should be looking to draft with it this year not give up assets to improve at the deadline. we've done that for at least 5-7 years lets take a year off. we have what 32 million in cap space this summer. I would rather wait or even sell to recoup assets this year. reload for next year with hopefully a better Knies/Robertson/Woll and then we can resume our quest for the cup. that doesn't mean we give up this year. just saying go with the team we already have.

What does Walker's next contract look like? He is playing top 4 minutes with Philly.

I have no clue. Prior to playing 15 good games in Philly he was looking at a 1Mx1 deal. Now maybe 2Mx1. Either way you don't need to re-sign him. The Leafs need to get off Klingberg's deal.
