It's kind of funny. Parayko would be interesting... But some rando on Twitter is literally the only source of these rumours. No one else is talking about it.

Yet we have a 7 page thread dedicated to it lol.

I actually liked the Edmundson who played against us vs the Habs. But I haven't really watched him since so need to see him in person. I am shocked he is only 30.

One day I am going to write a list of all the crap the Leafs have traded picks for who played for us for 2 months and did almost nothing to help. Almost none of them re-signed and contributed in any meaningful way. Let alone all the draft capital they have given up for retention or even worse getting rid of cap (Marleau / Mrazek)....

The Foligno/ROR trades for rentals that played like 20 games for us as ~33-34 year olds or whatever were each about the same trade value, or even significantly less trade value (and in some cases SIGNIFICANTLY less trade value), then what teams in the past have traded for top 4 dmen in their 20s who stuck around multiple years. A few examples:

-Hamilton for a 1st + two 2nds
-Hronek + 4th for a 1st + 2nd
-Toews for two 2nds
-Montour for a 3rd
-Durzi for a 2nd
-DeMelo for a 3rd
-Marino for Smith and a 3rd
-Skjei for a 1st

I'd take any one of those players in their 20s for multiple years over Foligno or ROR as rentals. We also have the most expensive scouting / management group in the league, so our ability to look at a guy like say Montour on Buffalo, and realize he could play 20 minutes a night for us and that he's undervalued, should be better than other teams ability to do that.

I'm always about waiting for the results and see the bright side of things in the moment. Trying to understand their logic and vision, even if my own vision/understanding would be different. You know, I'm always willing to be proven wrong. It's really hard right now though.

It's been discussed by the media quite a bit.

I've seen quite a few others, but can't find them now.

He very much was on every trade bait list over the last 6 or so months, if not longer than that.

Whatever.

I'd prefer to know how many ignored penalties there are in the post-season when everyone (sorry most everyone) ramps up their physical game?

Non-calls are just as pertinent, and we know by evidence, there is bias in the officials in the regular season when game have less meaning.

NHL refs look to even-up calls generally, so an explanation for the fact that our skilled team can't get any PPs might be that we also don't get called for too many penalties. So in theory, if we get called for a few more penalties we will also get a few more powerplays....

I don't know - f*** NHL refs in general.

Exactly, a comparison of penalties called is meaningless without the context of comparing penalties committed- which is next to impossible

Who is the head pro scout for the Leafs and how long has he been there? So many questionable additions over the years. When was the last time they found a diamond in the rough (even on waivers)?

Bunting. Benoit has also been serviceable.

times has change indeed

it's hard to say this without sounding biased but I have a feeling his crosschecks are going to be called for penalties a lot more often with this jersey change. And we have a history of losing playoff series' to the Bruins PP. Foreboding!

I hope not - pretty sure Benoit is better than Edmundson today, not to mention will be cheaper to re-sign and has essentially his whole career ahead of him.
The very reasons we value him - combination of age, contract status, ability today, upside- also makes him a potentially valuable piece to a seller. Same with Liljegren. Don't want to see either gone, but the "gotta give to get" adage could apply, and if a dman goes it would make room for Edmundson
