You think he will terminate his contract and walk away from the $8 million he is owed for next year?

Fat chance that happens.

To give up $8 mil though? I think I'd ride on a bus for $8 mil for a year.

What a kick in the nuts, if they win with our castoffs.

I don't know where escrow is at this year but I do know if you're in the AHL you don't pay escrow so cha ching.

Is it just me or do all the deals seem decent and not overpaid like last year? I guess whenever the Leafs is not active on TDL, prices will just come down, lol.

I don’t think the leafs have the assets. Teams are not high on torontos other assets besides Knies, Cowan and minten. Leafs have a late first and nothing else for a few years for draft picks. It’s going to be tough to make a trade.

I know we like the other prospects we have but it feels to me other teams don’t feel the same.

Go look at what Boston, Tampa and Florida have to offer…

Florida got to steal Tarasenko because of the NTC, kind of jealous lol.

I'd be curious to see what Boston gives up on that potential Lindholm flip or if Hanifin lands in Tampa.

So you think Nick Robertson is a solid NHL veteran that dramatically improves any team he is on and Colton Parayko as a soft, one dimensional player who doesn't belong on the top six of a contending lineup?

Why, out of curiosity, do you think Robertson gets healthy scratched if that is the case?
Couldn't agree more on Robertson. His skillset just isnt needed on this team particularly with Cowan coming up the pipeline. Conversly, Parayko is exactly what we need.

100%. Thats why people have been saying we have a severe lack of assets to get anything done. We are in a pickle. Oh well.

I’m happy if the team looks at Jensen and Peeke tier of low cost, potential smart fits for Mo. My sense of both is that they could both fill a Hainsey type role, Jensen with the track record. Less painful cap hits than Parayko for example.
Jan Ruuta as well.

Could be a mistake worse than signing John Tavares. Eventually, old players become boat anchors if they're signed too long. He'll soon be 31 and has another 6 years on his deal after this one. Also has a NTC/M-NTC so we'd be stuck with him. Down the road we'd be paying firsts just to get rid of the guy. No thanks.

I think they accept that and know there is a window of time.

We know those 6th, 7th and 8th years of Nylander isn't going to look great but you deal with it then.

High end RD haven't appeared on the radar, Pietrangelo and Weegar are the only ones, we chose Brodie and for some reason wouldn't trade Johnsson/Dermott for Weegar.

Parayko would be a solid add.

Sabres trying to build right from backend out. Having Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson and now Byram. That’s a great group of young dmen.

Mostly yes.

Dahlin has to go to his off-side, kinda similar to Heiskanen, would love to see both get to play their natural side permanently. Maybe Tanev eventually plays with Heiskanen.

Byram as harsh as this sounds is a hard hit away from scrambled eggs.

If JT came with a $6.5 mil cap hit like Colton does, he'd be a massive asset. That cap hit is a bargain for a 1st pairing dman.

Of the defensemen left, Hanifin who’s a LHD and a homesick American, Dumba who’s just not very good, and Peeke who can’t even crack the top 6 defenseman on an awful Columbus team, I see no reason for the Leafs to go big unless they’re risking it all for Parayko or have convinced Seattle to give up Larsson or Borgen. Both of those options seem very unlikely so as it stands I don’t see the Leafs doing anything come Friday. At least, do something that I’d be all that thrilled about.
