I don't think Robertson is good enough to play in the top six on a good team and I think he's useless in the bottom six. He's what the Leafs don't need, a non-physical forward who offers absolutely nothing to the team when the puck isn't on his stick.

As for Parayko, the term on his contract is an enormous plus, not a negative. He would be an incredible addition and would hugely improve the team now, and for the next several years.

So you simultaneously see the glass half empty for Robertson and full for Parayko... can't say I agree with you there - I actually see it as the opposite :DD

This is what makes Sakic great. He doesn't get too attached to guys and his goal is to always make the team better and not get stuck in bad contracts or ruin the team's cap or flexibility to make moves. Guy is always thinking multiple steps ahead.

Chris MacFarland is the General Manager of the Colorado Avalanche.

So you think Nick Robertson is a solid NHL veteran that dramatically improves any team he is on and Colton Parayko as a soft, one dimensional player who doesn't belong on the top six of a contending lineup?

Why, out of curiosity, do you think Robertson gets healthy scratched if that is the case?

Johansen is a problem child, why would Philly want h8m back? Guy wears out his welcome wherever he lands…….

Horny for the firstrounder. Imagine people drafting for members of the opposite sex!

Is it safe to say Brodie, Timmins, Robertson, Niemela, Steeves, Abruzzeze and Minten don't have much value around the league?
Brodie at 50% retained probably gets mid round pick

Robertson same

The others are probably the 3rd piece in a trade including a 1st + another good piece to grab something useful

Robertson, Brodie and Liljegren for Parayko 50% retained would leave the leafs with $44,000 in cap space.

A doable trade

Parayko only makes $1.5m more than Brodie against the cap, I think we have that much cap room right now even with a full roster. If not, we can always go down to 21 guys instead of the 23 we're carrying now. Retention isn't needed and wouldn't happen anyway.
