Power has been pretty awful, like really awful. Although he is still young.A bit strange for Buff
Their LD was still pretty well set up unless they've soured on Power.
True. He did have 6 weeks. Also it's not like he hasn't seen Calgary play the Leafs during his tenure with Calgary. And, Toronto's needs have been the same for the last 8 years... we lack grit/aggression, and our defence is crap. I am sure he could've arrange something. What a baptism of fire that would've been for Treliving. In the job a few weeks and bam, trade Marner.
Personally, I think this offseason is where Tre will be building his team.I tend to agree. In addition, what is St. Louis' motivation to move him right now when more options may be available at or around the draft?

isn't it just one more season until Marner and Tavares deals are up?I agree.
But, I think the move to be made was last offseason in trading Marner. Trevling thought otherwise.
Now we are stuck in this forward cap heavy situation for the next several years with everyone and their NMC.
This is what makes Sakic great. He doesn't get too attached to guys and his goal is to always make the team better and not get stuck in bad contracts or ruin the team's cap or flexibility to make moves. Guy is always thinking multiple steps ahead.

He's certainly slowed down from where he was in the past (or looked it last time I saw the teams play).
I also think a 25 goals, 60 point guy whos (ignoring every stats analyst out there) good defensively would grab more of a return, no matter what kind of leverage no?
I'm assuming you're talking about hockeybuzz.com, Brodie and Robertson for Parayko. I would do that in a heartbeat
Robertson, Brodie, Liljegren, prospect for Parayko / Kyrou would be amazing. One could dream
Imagine having an 22 extra mil to play with!Oh for sure. But the Leaf way is going to be to sign Marner to 12.5 x 8 and JT to 6 x 4.
(Personally, I would let them both walk and then retool to find guys who fit the playoff mould. But I am an armchair GM).
This would be the greatest trade in franchise history. Two pieces I would be happy to get rid of in return for an excellent player that would address multiple needs and be an enormous part of the team moving forward.
This would be an absolutely outstanding move for the Leafs.
No thanks. RyJo just isn’t very good.Jarncock - RyJo - Marner
He was largely bad for the Rangers in the playoffs last season. I expect him to be for Florida, as well.
Dream about a world where you can make a crazy lopsided tradeDream about a world without the salary cap?
When you have a team who is on a 13-4 run up to the deadline and is top 10 in the NHL, you don't stand pat while the teams around you get better.Personally, I think this offseason is where Tre will be building his team.
Sometimes you have to take a risk and buy low and go some relaxing rejuvination massagNo thanks. RyJo just isn’t very good.
Why would St. Louis make that trade? Just to get Nick Robertson? I would think there would be a better deal available to them if they simply wait. Why are you happy to "get rid" of Robertson?
You do realize Parayko's contract could be an anchor on this team as early as 2-years from now? He'll be virtually untradeable if he declines. I agree short-term will help but ... lots of risk there.
