It's not that hard, basically just swapping out Brodie and him in which covers most of it.

Brodie looks the most cooked out of the bigger salaries we have so he would be the guy to go for sure. Package Robertson too and it covers the salary without retention right? (I cant see retention with that long a contract)

Chychrun would be more interesting as he has another year left at 4.6 but I don't know if he's as good a fit.

Certainly, but the Panthers are the better team.

As I said, Leafs are top 3rd. in the league, but hardly a contender.
Toronto is one REAL top 4 dman away from being in the upper class.

Scoring goals shouldn't be a issue with this team as long as they are willing to get to the hard areas.

PK/keeping pucks out of the net is the bigger issue

Wow, surprised that Tarasenko went for so little.
Did anyone watch him play for the Rangers in the playoffs last year? He was bad.

Tarasenko goes for peanuts. That’s insane.

Treliving needs a value trade. He almost paid as much for Lyubushkin
I suspect that Lyubushkin will have a bigger impact in the playoffs than Tarasenko. I'm more surprised that Florida didn't try to find a way to squeeze in Guentzel.

I don't think he'd be a good fit on our team (looking for a two-way forward) but I'm a little jealous about how he seems a good fit for the Cats.

Can only hope he disappoints in the playoffs like last year.

I think you vastly underestimate the team culture, especially in the playoffs, these last 8 years.

As most of the teams that might be considered contenders peck away at the carcasses of the lower ranked teams, spending their capitol early might work in our favour as the competition for what is left diminishes. I'm not expecting a home run from Tre, but if he's able to add at a lower cost, ok.

Although the Sandin contract appears to be a bit excessive in AAV and possibly term, it's not exactly the worst gamble in the world either.

Tarasenko also seems to be a good add for Florida. Thank you, Ottawa. :sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:

Robertson isn’t playing today for the Marlies….. weird! I bet he’s traded by Friday. Apparently he’s not in the line-up this morning. The Marlies have their early afternoon school day game today. He wasn’t injured on Saturday
He's probably still with the Leafs

There won't be much meat on the carcass by the time Tre is allowed to eat.

Well the team culture under Dubas was awful, under Tre it seems like it has changed a bit with players now actually sticking up for each other etc...

My point still stands Toronto biggest achilies heel is the PK and keeping pucks out of the net.

Tarasenko had a full ntc, he controlled where he wanted to go and Ottawa had no leverage.
Now that said, it’s still terrible asset management by the Sens. Why sign a guy to one year and give him a full NTC when you are likely to flip him at the deadline? I guess they expected to be a much better team, but these are all bad mistakes.

If the talking heads are spouting off on Lindholm based on facts ...

Wonder if Lindholm really wants Boston and has told the Canucks he's not re-signing with them?

If I were Columbus I'd be curious if there could be a Gaudreau-Lindholm re-union? Completely up to Lindholm.

Just trying to work out a:

Penguins-Canucks-BlueJackets-Leafs deal

Penguins - prospects/picks/young players
Canucks - Guentzal
Blue Jackets - Lindholm re-signed
Leafs - RD

Well...what's hard is the optics:

Brodie's wife's health/death in the family.

I would hate to be the person that tells him: "we're trading you to St. Louis".

Dubas would have given a contract that walked him right to UFA status, came with a full NMC, had an ~8M caphit, and massive signing bonuses all around.

He’s definitely not. On pace for 31 points isn’t bad but he’s a train wreck defensively

Sandin has actually been lightyears better defensively since the Capitals coaching change.

I don't know if it's Carbery's system, or just working with the Capitals staff, but my biggest knock on Sandin was that he always played like he was hearing footsteps and he rarely, if ever, won one-on-one battles, but that fear is gone from his game and his work ethic, in terms of coming up with pucks or tying up the opposition is much better than it used to be.
