Robertson isn’t playing today for the Marlies….. weird! I bet he’s traded by Friday. Apparently he’s not in the line-up this morning. The Marlies have their early afternoon school day game today. He wasn’t injured on Saturday
Nah it was a paper transaction so he wasn't expected to play imo

Quite the deal for Sandin… no idea how he had leverage over Washington to sign for that.

Nice to see him do well but ultimately I think his size and footspeed will limit his impact.

He’s done well in his role but the Caps are a mediocre team . Not sure on a better contender he’s worth that.

He’s definitely not. On pace for 31 points isn’t bad but he’s a train wreck defensively

The Toronto Maple Leafs aren't keen on dealing away Matthew Knies, Easton Cowan, or Fraser Minten before Friday's deadline.

If Parayko...

How does TOR make the money work now and in the near future?

I am not saying it's impossible, but if we acquire him it will be more of the same: filling in with players on the margins.

For this year, Brodie would probably have to go. In the off-season, we should have some room with Brodie, Bertuzzi and Domi's salaries off the books, not to mention Klinberg and Murray. Then beyond next year cap is up and JT is off the books.

It's easier to fill out your team around the margins when you add a reliable RHD who can eat 25 mpg. We haven't had a guy like that in decades.

"... to this point."

Hardly untouchable, but I agree it should take something exceptional.

No one asking about Grebenkin, or he isn't on that list?

Florida and Tampa are after the big dogs it seems
Tarasenko is a very physical player. FLorida already a physical team. That's a good mix

Hanifin with Tampa can be deadly.

Depends who the leafs are going after. If they are going after anyone big at all
Most will want that 1st. Then a prospect that's NHL ready or playing in NHL

Again if we are going after someone big. I dont' think we are going after anyone big

Allegedly he's improved quite a bit defensively, with the responsibility. That being said, I don't think he's a contenders second pairing D, but congrats for him being in that spot.

They are looking at another reclaimation project like Dylan Strome.
Strome seems to have worked out for them and ressurected his career

They are essentially paying for his upside

If we're trading the 1st would much prefer Sean Walker over Savard.
Any GM even entertaining a 1st for Savard should get fired immediately. A 1st should only be on the table (along with spare parts) for a longer term solution like Chychrun, Hannifan or someone of that nature. Savard is a depth guy at best. Maybe for a 3rd or 4th.

I forgot Savard still in NHL

Tarasenko to Florida confirmed. Done deal

Tre can't stand pat. We can't beat Florida as is. Florida I think will fit nicely with other POS they have

I get we draft and developed Lily and he plays really well at times, but at the end of the day he is an average sized defencemen that doesn't do anything exceptional - no elite skating, point production or physicality. If you are that average I think you need to at least have the size.

I think he will be part of a package more likely in offseason to fetch a defender more in the mold of recent cup champs

Reports had Philly extending only one of Seeler/Walker so I'd say the chances of a Walker trade increased.

Edmonton and us have been the most linked teams to Walker

A bigger trade involving Walker and Laughton would solve a few issues. That may merit giving up some assets if you believe you can extend Walker. Laughton has a few more years at 3 million. Both ontario boys.

Last year Tre made a deal for Nick Ritchi because he wanted to join the party
One of the last trade of the day

I wouldn't expect too much from Tre.

Toronto
With only 2 D signed beyond this year, and Benoit/Lilly as RFAs, it would make a ton of sense for Tre to acquire a D with term or else he’ll have to double dip in FA this offseason.

If Toronto was trading for Jensen wouldn't mind adding Patches to the deal for some forward depth.

We need a first line winger so badly. As good as Knies can be potentially, hes' not ready for 1st line duties

THey have to pick up a depth scoring winger

Seems like a lot but haven't really followed him since he left.
If he's worth that much, it seems like a mistake that he was moved.

Well, Capitals probably know more about his worth to them than we do.

I thought it was high, but Dylan Strome is their leading scorer, with 47 points.
That is a team in transition, and likely just a vehicle to chase Gretzky's goal total.
