Seems like a lot but haven't really followed him since he left.
If he's worth that much, it seems like a mistake that he was moved.
I think it's a function of his potential, his age and the fact that Washington doesn't really have much of up and coming talent that's semi established. He's not worth that to us by any means. Plus paying your fourth lhd 4.6 is tough

They might as well make the trade. Parayko can still skate pretty well. If they can’t do anything in the next 3-5 years then this team is probably getting blown up anyway.
Pretty much, there’s no future for this team as long as they devote half the cap or more to 4 forwards. Hasn’t worked, won’t ever work……….

Anyone know why Twitter links don’t open either, just the link text now?
For me it’s the browser, I can have endless popup ads or I don’t get twitter links, I’ll happily take having to click on the link to spare myself the constant ads, this server is a joke……..

Any team would be certifiably nuts to allow that player into their dressing room……..
I still don't understand why Carolina re-acquired him. Everyone seems to heap praise on Carolina, and meanwhile they win nothing and most of their trades/signings don't seem to result in much.

If Parayko...

How does TOR make the money work now and in the near future?

I am not saying it's impossible, but if we acquire him it will be more of the same: filling in with players on the margins.

Seems like Lilly and Robertson will be leaving, I think we will regret both.

id rather jarnkrok be shipped

I have zero issue trading either if it means bringing in a top pairing RHD. If it takes Nicky bobby and lilly to get Parayko, I'd do it. You keep all your top prospects and get a guy that will be able to anchor the top pair for at least 4 of his remaining6 years and at under 7aav? By year 4 the cap should be above 92M, that's 7% of your cap. Is do that all day.

To Toronto: David Savard (50% retained) + Jake Evans + COL 2nd Rounder

To Montreal: TOR 1st Rounder + Alex Steeves

Would hate to deal our 1st and the best player in the trade coming back being Savard but if it happens, hopefully we can grab Colorado’s 2nd somewhere in the deal.

Evans would be a real good pickup. Can play center or wing, plays hard and can kill penalties.
That’s an interesting idea/concept.

I’ve wondered about leveraging the first into more than one asset, as in maybe taking a flyer on someone who’s stock has dropped PLUS a decent asset, where part of the value of the good player is absorbed by taking on the riskier guy. Or like what you’d get if you split the first into two seconds.
The part I’m not set on yet is….what kind of ‘term’ *should* we reasonably expect? Like, if you’re baseline for a good pick is 200 nhl games, then are you okay trading a first for two guys who will play a total of 200 games for you?
Like for example, say a Jensen and Dowd package. With their term, you’d expect we’ll over 200 games between them, but not real top end stuff. Is that worth it for a first?

We haven’t turned any of the big ones into NHL players.
Well, that's a different argument, and not the team only drafting "a certain profile of defensemen".
Most of the big bulking defensemen with NHL skills are going to be drafted in the early-mid 1st round, before we even have a chance to draft.

There are plenty of 3rd pair defensemen around the league taken all throughout the draft.

Sure would be nice if we could extend Lilly like that, but they won't because "he hasn't proven anything", as if Sandin has proven any more than Lilly.
I bet he’d take less too. Seems a humbler kid. And I’m sure he wouldn’t care about NTC or NMC…..
I’m sure he’d want a JLMP clause tho.

Quite the deal for Sandin… no idea how he had leverage over Washington to sign for that.

Nice to see him do well but ultimately I think his size and footspeed will limit his impact.

He’s done well in his role but the Caps are a mediocre team . Not sure on a better contender he’s worth that.

Robertson isn’t playing today for the Marlies….. weird! I bet he’s traded by Friday. Apparently he’s not in the line-up this morning. The Marlies have their early afternoon school day game today. He wasn’t injured on Saturday
