To Toronto: David Savard (50% retained) + Jake Evans + COL 2nd Rounder
To Montreal: TOR 1st Rounder + Alex Steeves
Would hate to deal our 1st and the best player in the trade coming back being Savard but if it happens, hopefully we can grab Colorado’s 2nd somewhere in the deal.
Evans would be a real good pickup. Can play center or wing, plays hard and can kill penalties.
That’s an interesting idea/concept.
I’ve wondered about leveraging the first into more than one asset, as in maybe taking a flyer on someone who’s stock has dropped PLUS a decent asset, where part of the value of the good player is absorbed by taking on the riskier guy. Or like what you’d get if you split the first into two seconds.
The part I’m not set on yet is….what kind of ‘term’ *should* we reasonably expect? Like, if you’re baseline for a good pick is 200 nhl games, then are you okay trading a first for two guys who will play a total of 200 games for you?
Like for example, say a Jensen and Dowd package. With their term, you’d expect we’ll over 200 games between them, but not real top end stuff. Is that worth it for a first?
