Seems another trade is more a matter of when not if

I'd bet the Leafs look at packaging a prospect or 2 for a forward for sure. I expected Henrique to maybe be part of the last trade but there are many targets the Leafs likely could get.

I think Henrique might be too high profile of a center in this market to be worth what he’s going to cost, as funny as that sounds to say lol

I haven't looked at the available list of centers too closely lately but I would agree for sure.

I wonder if the Leafs circle back to Laughton?

I think we've taken care of the backend for depth

Now I'd only trade for somebody ideally suited to fill a hole on the roster with term or I'd like to resign

I don't think I will mess with the forwards, as Calle and Gregor are not even in the lineup. As I don't think a top forward is the difference between us and the Cup.

Want to get another Dman but not a lot of options.

If Tre does nothing, I am more than fine with it. If anything the last 9 games had shown. Leafs will go as far as AM, MM and Willie take them.

Curious to see what they do with the roster over the next week.

Assuming they are still looking to upgrade the right side I don't see them carrying 8D/3G after the break with no extra forwards. Timmins/Gregor/Lagesson/Reaves all likely to hit waivers with the current setup.

After the trade deadline, ther is no longer 23-man roster. The salary cap remains in effect but the roster size is unlimited.

I would imagine Timmins, Gio and Jarnkrok are LTIR until the TDL. Murray too. I have a sneaking suspicion that Murray is our fourth goalie come playoff time...hopefully that never matters.

After adding Lybushkin, does our blueline look comparable to past Stanley Cup winners? I would say no - like you said, a legit top 4 dman is really the priority.

If we can add a legit top 4 dman, where does Lybushkin slot? He may not even play.

So I don't really see the point of the trade. On its own, I don't think it's enough of an improvement to our blueline, and if we take another step to improve our blueline, then he probably doesn't play or barely plays. Not worth a 3rd + 6th for that. Seems like we're making a move for the sake of making a move.

Lily is their only RHS until now and next year if Boosh walks. If Tre wants to use another bullet, he could trade for another RHD with term and move Brodie or Benoit.

Not necessarily trade, although I would trade Brodie if there are any takers if I thought he was going to be as bad as he was in last year's playoffs. If they think Brodie playing the left side is a solution, they probably stand pat on D or they add a 7th dman as insurance IMO.

I do not see any other possibilities if he picks up another dman who plays.

Which is why this trade made no sense to me, if the idea is/was to acquire another RD then why give up the little draft capital you have? I'm confused by what Treliving is doing here.
