we'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I remember last year it was reported that Dubas didn't want to move a 1st for a rental but still ended up moving it.

Obviously a different GM but this recent win streak could add some pressure to improve the roster.

They should sign Ruzicka and send him to player's assistance. Could be a good bottom 6 guy for next season.

Isles fans are ready for a firesale and are saying Scott Mayfield can be head for cheap. Should we be interested?

Reilly - Mayfield
Brodie - Liljegren
Benoit - McCabe

I think it'll be Lyubushkin at 50% for a 5th/6th and a low prospect like Ellis or Kressler or something.

He's not that great but he's a hard hitter and a right handed shot that can play ok on the bottom pairing and add physical depth. I'd rather have him than Lajoie as depth and injuries can pile up fast. It all depends on how Timmins does in his recovery too but I would not be surprised if he's out until the playoffs.

That's my best guess as to who the RHD will be acquired for what they are willing to give up.
I get that you can’t go all in every year, but having a player pace for 78 goals along with the team looking so good, that kind of TDL would be a massive disappointment

Need a genuinely impactful defenseman

I wonder if it's a mid bottom pair guy on a fringe playoff team like Carrier or Fabbro

Maybe a team looking to get rid of a contract will eat some money like Schenn

I think it'll be Lyubushkin too.

They also add one or two more physical bottom-6 defensive forwards.

I'm thinking Trenin from Nashvile or maybe Carrick gets added to the deal with Boosh.

Is Tanev really someone we want on the roster at $3.5 mil for this year and next? He's got 9 points in 40 games this year, missed time... like he has in a lot of other years..... I get what he brings, but I'm not sure he's really who we should be bringing in. 14 points in 46 career playoff games. I get the intangibles, but you don't pay $3.5 million for intangibles, and 0.25 PPG.

I don't necessarily disagree but I don't think that impactful defenseman is attainable with our current situation. A winning streak right now makes it feel like we need to do something big but maybe the better play is keeping it simple instead of disrupting what's finally coming together.

Carrier or Fabbro would be fine as well. But the problem goes back to the first round pick or a top prospect in play if we're trying to get either player.

I did wonder about Fabbro AND Novak as 2 players that can really elevate our quality on defense and at center. I just don't know if we can afford the price it will take.

I think you don't want to make too much change, for that reason.
But, I feel like swapping out Lagesson for say Adam Larsson for example would be unlikely to be too much. I think you could change the goalie too with minimal disruption. Not sure at this point I'd want to spend much, if anything, on any role other than Top 4 D and G upgrade.

Not sure I want to pay declining Mayfield 3.5m until he’s 38.

Giving 7 years term to a 31 year old with his play style was a wild decision.

3.5M is DIRT cheap though. Like right now, it's on the low end of second pairing money at most. When the cap is approaching $100M in 3-4 years, that 3.5M cap hit is a non-issue.
I think it's fair to question how the player holds up over time, but the contract is potentially a positive imo.

Sounds like we are out on hanifin according to friedman as he wont resign in canada.

Get Tanev and go after Chychrun if possible
Good, we’ve wasted enough assets on rentals, ditto for Tanev……..

Peeke makes sense, good, youngish, won’t cost too much, and lets not forget Rielly played his best hockey with Haisey as his partner……..

I wouldn't be mad on a guy like Carrier

I wonder if they'd want a do-over on Schenn? Would they take Reaves or Kampf in a deal to off-set salary?

Legitimate partner for Rielly or bust. Some of these names mentioned are so underwhelming.

We have enough bottom pair depth d men as it stands, we don’t need more.

Good!

Throwing away a 1st round pick for a freakin' rental that to 34 years old is moronic. Flames are smoking some good shit if they think they will get a 1st for freakin' Tanev

Here is a list of all right shooting D-men

Of the top50 list; the only one I'd be willing to throw in the 1st for would be Rasmus Andersson from the Flames.

I don’t think Tanev is coming here.. not a RHD and Brad is not giving up a FRP for a rental. I’m thinking Larsson+ Gourde for our FRP+
