Knies (0.93) - Matthews (13.25) - Marner (10.9)
__________ - Tavares (11) - Nylander (11.5)
Jarnkrok (2.1) - __________ - Holmberg (0.8)
McMann (0.85) - Minten (0.85) - __________
52.18 million

Rielly (7.5) - Liljegren (4)
Chabot (8) - McCabe (2)
Benoit (1.5) - Kokkonen (0.85)
23.85 million

Woll (0.77) - Jones (1.5)
2.27 million

That team comes out to 78.3 million. With a projected salary cap of 87.7, that leaves us 9.4 million to fill three forward spots. Not terrible.
I'd be absolutely horrified if Toronto is stuck giving Timothy Liljegren $4 million per year. He makes $1.4 million right now. $3 million × 3 years sounds about right to me. That makes him 27-28 when his next deal is due and as a D-man that's when he can sign his 6-8 year big time deal if he has developed into a stud.

I wonder if Tverberg will get a game or two if he continues to play well at the end of the season in those throw away games to end the regular season. I think he’ll be a pretty good bottom six player for us in the near future.

Ek and Chychrun both work and would be terrific adds, Ek becomes 2C Tavares moves to 2LW ,Chychrun joins Liljegren on 2nd pair and takes over PP1

Knies Matthews Marner
Tavares Ek Nylander
Bertuzzi Domi Jarnkrok
Gregor/Holmberg Kampf Perry/McMann

Reilly Brodie
Chychrun Liljegren
Benoit McCabe
Which - in my view - unfortunately leads to another big money winger and a diminished role for the #1D. Would potentially also require some ELCs/good players on cheap contracts to make next year's team (and one or more might be leaving the organization through these two hypothetical trades). Perfectly fine to agree to disagree though. I certainly can't argue with how impressive that lineup looks.

I’d be totally fine with 3x3 but I was thinking a 4x6. Pay a little for extra term but given our cap crunch 3x3 might be a better route.

Ideally you sign him to another 2 year deal around 3 million, keeps him as a rfa and then sign him to that long term deal

Markstrom on the move???
Markstrom and tanev for our 1st and whatever would def clean things up for sure

Add Perry to it and the league in general not being great this year there might be a chance before the year of cap hell!!!

why wait until after he breaks out Sanderson a steal for ott they paid him early only difference they seen he would be their best defensemen lily a little different cause riellys already here but you have to pay him now for 8 years 3 year bridge deal will end with us paying him double digits by time the cap rises in the next 3 years for a top 2 top 4 d we’ll end up trading him and fucced look at jarnkrok contract with Nashville they have the same team temperment I would capitalize now he’s carrying gio around no easy feat that’s all I’m saying he’s worth way more than 1.4

I generally agree with the price tags on the other guys. I'm not sure how I feel about Chabot, but he'd definitely be an upgrade.

I'm in the camp of paying about 6.0-6.5 million for Rielly's $8.0 is a little steep for me. For me, relatively ideal cap distribution would be some like...

1C: Matthews ($13,250,000)
2C: Tavares: ($11,000,000)
3C: ($3,500,000)
4C: Minten ($846,000)

1LW: Knies ($925,000)
2LW: ($5,000,000)
3LW: Holmberg ($800,000)
4LW: McMann ($900,000)

1RW: Marner ($10,900,000)
2RW: Nylander ($11,500,000)
3RW: Jarnkrok ($2,100,000)
4RW: ($900,000)

13th Forward: ($750,000)

1LD: Rielly ($7,500,000)
2LD: McCabe ($2,000,000)
3LD: Benoit ($1,250,000)

1RD: ($6,000,000)
2RD: Liljegren ($3,000,000)
3RD: ($2,000,000)

7THD: ($750,000)

G: Woll ($766,000)
G: Jones ($1,500,000)

Total cap hit $87.4 million

$3.0 million is more than double what he's making now.

You run into him ending up out producing that right shot dman in the second year of his third year deal then what?? Hope he takes 6 6.5 when the caps gone up more than 10 mil and now he’s looking at 8 9 10 on 8 year deal now you have to trade him ?? I don’t know I guess we’ll just see how it plays out right

Unless they take Kampf and one of Timmins or Reeves back I'm not really interested

His numbers are declining and middling goalies are voodoo so the cheaper the better generally
Exactly better to build the best team you can and go with the cheap options

Parayko’s numbers haven’t really declined much, but the small change is likely because his role changed.

If we could afford him he might be a tre target tall rangy Right shot dman the money is the issue but I mean wouldn’t be a bad idea

The issue with him is the length of the contract. 6.5 is pretty reasonable for a shut down defensive #2 defender, but he turns 31 in May and he’s got 6 years left after this season. He’ll start declining soon, and the last couple years could be rough looking.

Depending on the price, he’d be an excellent addition.

Didn't Rielly and Parayko play together a little on team North America or am I misremembering?

Also, as far as the cap hit, it's only an extra 1.5 mil over what Brodie makes.

Could finally have a true partner for Rielly for 3-4 years.

No, but if they take Samsonov and retain a little of his contract, it may be worth it.
Taking Samsonov's expiring contract might be simple enough (unless they really don't need another goalie). My feelings regarding the matter entirely would depend on how much they'd be willing to retain and what they'd be seeking in return?

Any worry regarding the acquisition of Parayko might be found in the two to three years after this (6+ years remain on his contract). ;)

They should probably work well enough together again, but Team North America is relatively a sprint in comparison to the marathon of NHL regular seasons/playoffs.

Age/term aren't really on our side in a Parayko deal imo, I liked him years ago as a target for Rielly, but I'd rather not live with the player decline of that contract.

Not sure he fits with Rielly. He’s a guy who should be used in hard matches all gane.

Why would they retain? It’s a 7 year contract and he’s currently well worth the money.

I’d look to get Oskar Sundqvist along with Parayko. Samsonov has to go the other way to make the money work. Sometimes substantial would have to go the other way - Timmins, Robertson, and something comparable to a 1st maybe.
