Guess I picked a good day to talk about how mediocre Kerfoot is on the PK.

Always nice when the game stories line up with the hf discussions. Doesn't change much either way though.
Not necessarily ravaged. With his wing span he could keep the speedy players to the outside. Reach is very underrated in today's game. Remember Hal Gill. Very effective low key player. They would get ravaged by faster guys, but sure...
They also would be playing 14 minutes a night still. 2nd + 4th seems pricey for a guy who is not going to play often.
Bozak had a knack of doing this to me years ago. HaGuess I picked a good day to talk about how mediocre Kerfoot is on the PK.
We have 13 games in the next 24 days, with 3 back to backs. We need a new goalie to help through this stretch.
Our team struggles when they get tired, we also need some load management.
It would be great if we manage to win 8 in this stretch.
Too bad we couldn't stick him in Engvall's body, imagine a 6'5" 222 lbs Kerfoot with that size strength and blazing speed.I’m a Kerfoot fan, he almost never makes a mistake with the puck in his own end.
I really only have two gripes with him...
He needs to shoot more on odd man rushes
He is too weak. He always loses board battles and can get stood up often. He was stronger or slipperier in those situations he’d be soooo much better.
Agreed, I think the player the Leafs acquire will be able to play either, probably a two-way forward that isn't soft & can play in Hyman's place on either line. Granlund fits except he's kind of soft mostly due to his size, Iafallo would be great although some more grit would be better, Palmieri would be a great fit except I'm pretty sure he only plays RW (but that's okay if he takes place on the HEM line), & Foligno's a great fit with a ton of grit.I think this is the decision Dubas has to make with regards to our forward group.
Option A) Which has been talked about ad nauseam, getting a top 6 forward to play on one of our top two lines. Would allow Hyman to go back to the HEM/ZIP line, and would give the Leafs another scoring threat up front. Would likely cost more in the way of assets and likely would require some shrewd cap maneuvering
Option B) The cheaper option both in a trade and money-wise, he and Keefe decide to leave Hyman with Matthews and Marner, and instead of trading for a Top 6 forward they acquire a third line grit-grinder to play with Engvall and Mikheyev instead, preferably someone who can also play centre. Would potentially be easier to maneuver around the cap as well.

Problem with getting a new goalie is then the team doesn't have the cap space to add up front; it's a tough call. They go that route and they'll likely need to remove someone from their roster while finding an immediate replacement with a lower cap hit (Kerfoot or Andersen; replacing Andersen would be much more costly of the two as an injured rental goalie coming off poor performance with 5m cap hit holds little to negative value). If Andersen is rested the next week we should be fine. He has been trying to play through an injury and as long as Campbell and Hutch can hold the fort down for the next week we should be perfectly fine. Resting Andersen is the best thing for the Leafs right now.
Laughton and Oleksiak would be fantastic additions. Both players bring exactly what we’ll need come playoff time.I would try for ulmark. Laughton. Those would be my priorities.
maybe another D like Oleksiak.
TSN Trade Bait: David Savard takes top spot as Nashville Predators push for playoffs - TSN.caLaughton and Oleksiak would be fantastic additions. Both players bring exactly what we’ll need come playoff time.

I did suggest the other day a Plan B move if they become desperate for a goalie because our 2 haven't been getting enough rest to fully recover yet, but they'd likely have to downgrade from Kerfoot to do so. Something like Kerfoot+ for Bennett (@50%) + Rittich (@50%); Rittich could come play for them immediately but ideally they don't have to make this move.
Kerfoot getting that value up. Love to see it.
Make no mistake. His ass still needs to be replaced
That's an error in Trade Machine, it still has it's flaws (e.x. trading players with buried cap hits from Taxi squad should not effect salary cap). Hutchinson is on emergency exception. Toronto Maple Leafs - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps he currently has a cap hit of 0 for the Leafs.Cap wise, we can get Ullmark at 50% for Hutchinson.

What a feat that would be if we could swap Hutch for Ullmark. Of course draft pick and prospect has to go Buffalo's way. Also we can pick up McCabe's LTIR contract to sweeten the deal.
My ideal deal would be to get Hall and Ullmark, we would have to include a third team in the deal to make the cap work like Chicago and we might have to give up Kerfoot. Another draft pick will go to Chicago and also we can pick up Zack Smith LTIR contract to sweeten that deal
