You are right that Kerfoot provides a lot of veratility. He has great speed and work ethic.

I really don't think "most fans" want him gone but rather it's the typical mentality of those that need a whipping boy or their life is incomplete.

More likely a simple “money in, money out” approach. Kerfoot makes the most out of our middle 6 tweener group, it’s only logical that that’s where people look to find money for an addition and upgrade.

But has it been tested? We were told the same thing about multiple scenarios I listed above and were convinced it couldn’t happen. Then they all did.

there has been a new CBA. Teams are broke. I personally. Have an incredibly hard time believing that betman (who altered the punishment. Of the coyotes—- that was supposed to be money too) wouldn’t want to find a way to get the yotes a few million.

but I guess we will see if that happens. It’s a hypothetical. People are way to quick to jump to the same rules that have led them astray before on buyouts/LTIR etc

Is it worth the gamble for the Leafs? Need to acquire him first before dealing him and if the league denies the try the Leafs are on the hook trying to get rid of Kessels 6.8 mill and now from a position of weakness.

Yes he would. The LAST thing this team needs is a player with his playing style on our team. I'm shuddering just thinking about it but it's not to bad because I am confident there is no way the organization is that stupid again.

He is still a fairly good sniper and is a proven winner with PIT. If he didn't have the baggage with the Leafs from the past, I think he would be a much better fit for the Leafs than Hall.

No it is not worth the gamble. I can't wait till he's off our books because us paying money to him drives me crazy though it was the FAR better option opposed to not disposing of him.

I completely disagree. I don't want him anywhere near our young players or our team especially now that we have kind of figured out how to play a proper defensive team game. Don't need him coming in and re-destroying things.

Then we should probably not get Taylor Hall either.

He might be one of the better C's left unprotected.

Except he probably isn't seen as a center. Only 185 f/0 this year so barely ahead of Engvall who has played 9 less games. Plus he is 38% on the draw except for dzone and pk where he is worse. There is more to the position than just that but when you consider his numbers are likely biased to strong side usage he seems like a winger. He is #4 in forward pk minutes on the 19th best pk in the league. I don't see him getting taken if they can have Holl instead because of his deal. I actually think he might do well as a Kraken with the max opportunities and a decent skill set but the RD with size thing gives JH that extra shine.

He had two MVP type playoffs after being traded which is a lot more relevant than his previous Leaf days. He had that extra gear which we seldom saw as he was miscast as the guy who could carry the team. I don't see him as a target but when we people are talking about a guy like Rakell has 7 goals as a get Phil doesn't look that bad.

I was wondering about Sammy Blais but St. Louis is still in the playoff race. Guy is big and plays with speed. Would look good with the Leafs.

Hyman Matthews Marner
Galchenyuk Tavares Nylander
Thornton Kerfoot Mikheyev
Blais Spezza Simmonds

He wouldn't be expensive to acquire (if made available), but I don't know if the 4th line is really where we need to improve.

I don't want anyone with his playing style anywhere near our team.

It was pure hell when he played here.

There was a reason Crosby flat out said he didn't want to play with him, to the point where he said it on national t.v after a HNIC game without actually naming names. Malkin didn't like playing with him either.

High unlikely Calgary is catching Montreal. The games in hand (SIX) is way too much for them to overcome.

Look for them to start selling Id think.

Also, Florida is taking Ghost (if he even makes it that far). They have the cap room to do it.

They have the capeoom but ownership might be wary of taking on more salary.

I will not be surprised if the Leafs end up sitting on their hands during this trade deadline.

I would be. At the very least, I expect the Leafs to add depth. Whether that's a bottom 6 add and/or Depth D-man trade.

This is the closest the LEafs have been to contending in the Mathews era. Especially, with the whole North division and facing a Canadian team in the 1st two rounds... If there's a time to add. Its now.

Would love Blais. Perfect addition to the bottom 6. Potentially even Zach Sanford.

Kerfoot for Blais/Sanford + Jake Walman.

The Blues actually have an abundance of forwards. What happened to Mike Hoffman? Is he not playing anymore? They have sundqvist and Barbashev on the IR right now.

When they come back, Kyle Clifford/Sammy Blais/Jacob De La Rose/Zach Sanford all candidates of being scratched
