I will not be surprised if the Leafs end up sitting on their hands during this trade deadline.

I'd be extremely surprised if they did. Sitting (though in a fight) for the top of their division, a much less brutal path forward in the playoffs, playing overall better hockey than they have the past few years...this is absolutely the time to be making some moves. Don't have to bet absolutely everything on this season, but I can't see them sitting around and not making moves to try and improve.

Possible they can't make a move. But it seems really unlikely.

I only say this because I heard the cost of Granlund was far too expensive. I don't want someone like Hall, who I find a locker room distraction, but the other side of the argument is could he be the player that gets the second/first lines scoring more frequently and gets Thornton and Simmonds in a more fitting position.

Jut surprised outside of the Staal and Lemieux trades how quiet things have been so far.

They have the capeoom but ownership might be wary of taking on more salary.

I'd imagine a team in Florida would have fans in the stands if they make the postseason so they may be more inclined to take on that contract

Opportunity. It was likely a move to keep good relationships/attractiveness to KHL players & their agents; it's too bad because I think he'll end up being a pretty good NHL player once adjusted.

I cant wait until we get a "4th liner for 5th round pick" trade and the GM srarts off the press conference saying how theyve been working the deal since 2019 and how complicated and hard it is to do things in the NHL.

Lehtonen wasn’t very good, although it was only a small sample size. I’m not upset about loosing him and would be more shocked to see him really become a top four defenceman for an NHL team. I do think upgrading on Dermott should be something being looked at at the moment. Oleksiak would be a nice addition.

I think this TDL will be a big bust in terms of names moved. Hall is probably the biggest, but I can't see anyone else major.

Sounds like Dubas has his plan B lined up, so he's still working on seeing if Plan A can go through. Wonder if it's Hall, and Buffalo is holding out for a better offer or to see if any other teams ante up.

I mean that sounds perfect to me? If we walk out of this TDL with our top-4 A tier prospects still in hand and we manage to upgrade on Dermott with someone like Oleksiak, I think we're in great shape. Solve the goalie issues in the offseason.
