I don't understand why Buffalo isn't throwing a nuke on that team yesterday. I don't know what's the hold up.
Wonder what kind of 2nd intermission speech Philli had in their room? "you lose to the f*****g Sabres you're all getting traded there tomorrow"Damn they were even up 3-0 heading into the 3rd...
At this point it might more embarrassing being the team that loses to the Sabres than actually being the SabresWonder what kind of 2nd intermission speech Philli had in their room? "you lose to the f*****g Sabres you're all getting traded there tomorrow"
They’re probably playing the long game and hoping someone overpays to get an asset early. They don’t care if they trade Hall or Ullmark tomorrow or right on deadline day, it’s all the same to them.
Staal probably only went so early because the Habs overpaid.
Teams don't want to take on cap - they either want dollar for dollar, or are waiting until the last moment to do so I would imagine.2 weeks is a big difference. It shouldn't be the same to them. This isn't a small losing streak.
As a fan and whatever, I'd want that team to be blown up sky high and I'd want the team full of young players with projects. Not just veterans waiting for their trade papers. You want to see your management be on top of it and understand what they need to do, not just sit on their hands until potentially the last day.

I still think Petan could have been useful if he was given the Barabanov/Galchenyuk chance in the top 6, but it doesn't look like he'll be given that chance here.
I agree those two are likely the first to go.
Complete and utterly ridiculous trades.
Some Boston Fan started a Bergeron trade thread.... after a good start, Boston is fading pretty bad, and could actually miss the playoffs. At some point, Boston will need to start a rebuild... so I thought, what the heck, I wondered if this is possible, so I ran the numbers... and yes, I've run in through Cap Friendly, and we actually end up with MORE cap room.
I appreciate it's unrealistic, but it would be one heck of a lineup.
Kerfoot + 2022 1st + Amirov for Bergeron at 50%
Andersen + 2021 2nd + 2022 2nd + Barabanov for Hall and Ullmark both at 50%
Dermott + 2021 1st for Ekholm at 50%
Line up
Hyman Matthews Marner
Hall/Galchenyuk Tavares Nylander
Galchenyuk/Engval/Halll Bergeron Mikheyev
Thornton/Engvall Spezza Simmonds
Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Holl
Ekholm Bogosian
Campbell
Ullmark
I wouldnt be upset for a nick Ritchie trade if Boston can a fadingComplete and utterly ridiculous trades.

I don't understand why Buffalo isn't throwing a nuke on that team yesterday. I don't know what's the hold up. Just get as many young players as you can, get as many picks as you can and get as many contracts as you can to reach the floor.
But I don't know how it hasn't happened yet.
All we need a decent healthy goalie and this team can go places.
Yea I don't know but when it comes down the stretch in playoff hockey I highly doubt all 13 will stay healthy at once so that decision may make itself. But when they are all healthy, I think it's between Engvall, Jumbo & Simmonds but could be Chucky if he has an off game or another guy that's banged up... Simmonds you want in for toughness & some character (and PP1 netfront), Jumbo you want in for character, Engvall would be just be his fit to the lineup & some speed/size. I'd want to scratch Jumbo but it'd most likely be Engvall unless he happened to be really outplaying Kerfoot (or Chucky). If Toronto trades for a rental forward, who do they swap out of the lineup? Ideally they need someone to ride beside Marner/Matthews on the topline, the 2nd line has looked good with Galchenyuk and I don't see them making the Wanye Train or Jumbo Joe as healthy scratches. I also don't see Dubas trading Kerfoot away until the summer using him to help us in the playoffs. I guess that leave Engvall as the odd man out?
My targets as rentals are: 1) Nick Foligno, 2)Kyle Palmieri, 3) Taylor Hall, 4) Granlund. Im assuming it would take a 2nd+ a prospect to get a deal done, maybe abit less.
Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Galchenyuk - Tavares - Nylander
Mikheyev- Kerfoot - XXX ?
Jumbo Joe - Spezza - Simmonds (really slow 4th line lol)
Which shouldn't surprise anyone given we dealt away two top 9 forwards and tried to replace them with aging vets making peanuts. We absolutely need to add a decent forward. Probably more than a dman. Never thought I'd say that.I still think we're short a top 9 forward, if Hyman is going to eat some minutes on that checking line somebody good needs to play with Matthews and Marner when Hyman can't
