I'd have a tough time arguing that they have a more pressing need than in net. One guy can't play, another guy they are afraid to play too much and have him get hurt again and the last one is Hutchinson!

Oh sure bolstering the forward group would be nice. But if you don't have enough options to keep the puck out of the net that's it. Get ready for next season.

We urgently need a goalie. I really hope Dubas can a goalie of them quickly.

Here, I did some leg work to narrow down the list to ideal candidates. :)
These are some goalies that can help play some games, are on seller teams with 0 or 1 year left on their contracts and that have 0.910+ sv%

Yeah so I'm thinking Kerfoot needs to go regardless of goalie situation but as we get closer to the deadline, with Andersen now week to week and Jack being less than 100% - insurance needed

On your list, I'd pick Ullmark. I was also wondering about Kuemper, but Arizona has won three in a row, with St. Louis imploding, and they are suddenly thinking playoffs.

Ullmark seems like the most obvious one to me. The guy is cheap and putting up good numbers on a horrendous team. Buffalo is selling, no question he'll be dealt. Include Andersen in the deal and they can flip him somewhere else for a pick. Would also open up more cap space for Dubas to grab another player.

On 31 thoughts, Elliotte said Dubas doesn't want to make a goalie move unless he really needs too. Says he also doesn't believe Freddy is out for the year as of today.
Mentions he thinks Dubas has one or two moves in his back pocket but is waiting on right numbers, or if something else pops up on his plate.

Dubas is dumb to not trade for at least an upgrade on Hutchison .

Ok, so Dubas doesn't want to acquire another goaltender unless he really needs to...

The trade deadline is almost around the corner (with a one week quarantine for most available goaltenders). Andersen is already on the shelf for a while, and Campbell is still not 100% despite missing most of the season and has no track record as a starter.

At what point does the urgency of the situation dictate that we really need to make a move here?

Upgrading on Hutch seems pointless, we'd lose him to waivers and be in the same boat if Campbell/Andersen are injured. Either get a durable platoon starter or roll the dice on our guys being healthy.

If we could keep both Hutch and a Dell/Stalock type it would make sense, but we can't given how hungry everyone else is for a competent 3rd string G.

WHY ARE THE PEOPLE WITH ALL OF THE INFORMATION NOT PANICKING AS MUCH AS ME, WHO HAS ALMOST NO INFORMATION

we really don’t know how much they are panicking.

Playing hutch can’t make u feel comfortable

Some of its been mentioned, but here’s the bullets from 31 Thoughts of interest to Leafs; (one directly, the other of a player that’s been linked to us)

9. Plenty of mystery surrounding Frederik Andersen’s status, with Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe saying last weekend the goalie is undergoing “different evaluations,” and his return is not imminent.
Here’s the best info I can find: The Maple Leafs do not believe — as I write this — that Andersen’s injury is season-ending. They are not eager to eat their precious cap space on another netminder unless they absolutely have to. I do suspect GM Kyle Dubas has a move or two in his back pocket, and is waiting until the numbers work — or something else drops on his lap.

14. I’m another one who believes Luke Glendening is very much on Edmonton’s radar. (Tippett is not the source for this.) Makes too much sense, but the challenge for the Oilers is getting outbid by a higher pick than they want to exchange. I heard that his Detroit teammates jokingly compared Glendening — when in the face-off circle — to a dog eying a ball. His eyes never leave the puck in a linesman’s hand. He’s completely focused on it and ignores all else. Guess that’s why he’s at 64 per cent.

Those more versed with the CBA...anything stopping Toronto from putting Freddie on LTIR till the playoffs? Gives him a chance to get healthy and frees up cap until the cap doesn’t count? Other than that they may be counting on Freddie to help get them there?

Probably want to accrue cap.

I'm with you. I think right now the need is there, and I'd be surprised if Dubas doesn't make a move of some sort.

I would if I was Dubas try and get Korpisalo out of CLB. He’s on a very nice contract and has a year after this left. Also has very good playoff numbers. I would give up some draft picks and maybe a prospect

Buffalo fans are adamant that he is a building block to be kept.

I am very worried with our goaltenders health going into the playoffs. Campbell should not be constantly day to day or sitting out after a game or two.

Don’t disagree.

but this seems like it’s more about being cautious. He was a bit sore yesterday, felt better today, but giving Hutchinson the start out of caution.

We have to remember, Campbell is coming back from a leg injury. It would be unwise with that sort of injury to toss him back into starting every single game.

If he doesn’t start Wednesday, then sure, we can start to panic

And as I post this: Friedman says Campbell expected to start Wednesday

Yeah, Dubas has gotta keep his poker face on, and he’s loyal to his guys, particularly when there’s no certain upgrade available (like during the off-season).
