I do agree with this but those are in the offseason, as for Kucherov his timeline realistically fits what's needed... if he's within days of returning early it's easier (not right though) for them to milk it out, especially it being a long-term injury from hip surgery, even once he's back he won't be 100%. As for Andersen if it truly is 7-10+ days it's not realistic that they could milk out 5+ extra weeks without being deemed fit to play from a short-term injury.

Hopefully the injury either expected to be long enough that they can safely place him on LTIR until playoffs while adding, or it's just a minor 7-10 day injury; nothing in between the 2 is any good. Something that's expected to be 7-10 days just seems like to much of a stretch and would likely be investigated if they were to attempt this.
Setbacks happen. Misdiagnosed injuries can also lead to longer return times.

It's not out of the question Andersen will be placed on LTIR. The language from Keefe today was interesting.

I mean long term for big bucks. Why didn't he sign with one of those contenders then? So don't come back to tell me, oh what a poor guy always plays for bad teams. There is a reason for that.
Just because he chose to sign with Buffalo doesn't mean Buffalo's horrible players haven't dragged him down this year, or that he hasn't been on terrible teams in the past

Neither of those guys is better than Sandin, Liljegren, or Marincin. Waste of assets.

Sandin is probably not an option for the playoffs. Lily probably not ready in the minds of Leaf management. No way can MDZ be worse than Marincin and probably costs you a 6th/7th. We need to find a depth LHD at some point. Can you imagine Muzzin or Rielly getting hurt in game 1 of the playoffs and Marty stepping in in game #2 ? #NoThankYou.

This guy is selfish and does things that are good for Hall only, not what's good for the team. That's the impression I get from him. I don't want him anywhere near this team.

Definitely, but it's all dependent on what those tests come back as in the following days/weeks. I wouldn't count on it until we at least hear something of more significance; right now it just sounds more like a theoretical possibility & so there's no way Dubas can gamble cap space he likely doesn't have. Adding for something like this you have to be certain you'll have the space otherwise he has to start waiving players after the TDL which would be a shitshow.

I honestly think the whole LTIR system is dumb & has needed fixing for a long time now.

Marincin is hot fukin garbage. DOnt even compare those players to him.

And Also, that's why I said "depth" defenseman. Tampa added Bogosian last year even though there were pretty stacked on the back end anyways. Never bad to have experience over Rookies as your depth defenseman.

Its like some of you just see what happens in the playoffs for us and decide that, we should do nothing at all. The fact that Marincin was our best defenseman available when Muzzin went down was a travesty

Marincin is absolutely better than Del Zotto. Del Zotto doesn't do anything at an NHL level. Atleast Marincin can PK. The guy was begging for an NHL job on a PTO a couple months ago. Can't say the same about Marincin.

If Rielly or Muzzin gets hurt, I don't want MDZ playing either. Would much, much rather have Maricin. At least he's good defensively.

I'd rather add a guy that has experienced team success. I don't want to add another "loser" to this team.
he's won at pretty much every other level. Either he just decides to be a selfish loser when he's in the NHL only, or he's played for terrible teams that no single player could achieve any success with

lol Yeah on paper sure. He'll fold in the playoffs where things get significantly harder to play and space on the ice shrinks.

We need Coleman/Goodrow types of acquisitions. Not another finness forward who's scared to have board battles in the playoffs
You haven’t watch Taylor Hall a lot if you think he’s scared to have battle boards. Also Hall playing here and have a chance at a deep playoff run for the 1st time in his career would be a huge motivational boost for him. Let alone playing with Marner and Matthews.

There isn’t one single GM in the league that would rather have Barclay Goodrow than Taylor Hall in their lineup at the same price. That is just an idiot way of thinking. Hall has been really unlucky in his career playing with mediocre team, saying you don’t want him here at the right price is just stupidity. We’re talking about a former league MVP for christ sake!

Hossa was a way better player.
Ray Bourque was a loser until he was traded to Colorado.

Yzerman was considered a captain that couldn't get his team over the hump until his early 30's.

Point is, you have no idea what you're talking about. 'Losers' end up winning the cup each and every year. Hall having played on bad teams his entire career doesn't make him a bad player. If you can't see that, you're a bad evaluator of talent.

Why didn't he sign with a contender in the fall if there were so many interested?
because contenders are still interested and he can be traded to one now. Obviously it didn't work out, but getting to play with Eichel and on the top PP unit while having a lot of freedom to control his future was a pretty appealing option at the time

That depends on the personnel they have. No team full of Taylor Hall types will try to acquire another Taylor Hall.

Agree to disagree I guessn

No he's not

I'm really thinking we should gear up for an offersheet at Brady Tkachuk. He'd be scoring better than Tavares this year and he'd be a perfect fit next to marner and Matthews. (Additional cap savings by not signing Andersen)

Id trade Nylander (even offer him to the sens for a Tkachuk deal) and throw 8-9 mill at Tkachuk.

We'd probably make up 2 firsts likely moving Nylander. And if we do have to offer sheet then giving up picks when we look like a team that should at least make the playoffs every year wouldn't hurt that much. Looking at what sens fans think Brady should get we could poach him knowing Melnyk is too cheap to offer a big signing bonus type deal as well.

Sens (and Melnyks cheapness) might also go for Nylander cause we have paid his massive signing bonus iirc. So it is a cheap deal for them. Wondering what people think about this move.

I'd especially do this if we flame out early in the playoffs.
