Why is everyone so against a Quick(retained)+Iafallo for lets say Fred+2021 second+ b prospect. We get a second line lw and a backup who we can expose later on. The way Fred is playing he is no better than Quick.

Because Quick even with retention is still a bad goalie. I would rather just stick with Andersen, let him expire, and then get someone even better than Quick for about the same price as a fully retained Quick.

Iafallo (retained) is only worth a 2021 2nd + B prospect on his own, and Andersen is a lot more valuable than a retained Quick, so it is a bad trade for us.

I think US based teams seem to really want to squeeze the Canadian teams for this.
The 14 day quarantine has really put a halt into everything. Seravelli did say the quarantine could be reduced to 7 days, but that was a few days ago so I doubt that happens.

I have a hard time believing Dubas wants to wait much longer. If there is an impactful trade, I think it's this week.

I guess he is just not going to do an impactful trade. He can still acquire a top 9 forward for a reasonable cost and even if it happens at the TDL, it is not a big deal. We can just use Galchenyuk in the meantime.

I think people have to realize that the Ekholm thing was never realistic and almost certainly was never going to happen.

Honestly it’s pretty stupid making these players go through a 14 day quarantine. I live in Windsor which is a border city to Detroit, numerous people cross for work related purposes. I personally know nurses, engineers and truck drivers who cross daily and weren’t getting tested at all. Meanwhile NHL players, who need to cross for WORK purposes need to quarantine for 14 days on top of them already getting tested very frequently and having very strict measures in place.

I’m really hoping we can get Oleksiak. Dermott than moves as the 7th dman or we use Dermott to upgrade the 3C or 2W position.

It is kind of silly when you think about it. These guys probably get tested as much nurses do. At least lower it to 7 with a few negative tests.

Can't say I've watched much of Oleksiak recently. I know he's a big boy.

Can he move? Would Oleksiak-Bogosian be a mess of a pair or would it work?

Has anyone considered the idea that if we acquire Ekholm, a top shelf LD, that the guy going back to Nashville...or maybe out the door in another deal...would be Rielly? Would that even make sense for either team, or am I just talking through my hat?
Rielly is not going anywhere

take that to the bank 100%

Nurses don’t even get tested nearly as much as these NHL players do, I know speaking as one. If you work in long term care then you’re getting tested weekly but that’s about it.

He can actually skate for a big man. He would be a huge addition on the 2nd PK unit as well.

From what I remember he was actually a pretty good skater, which is massive since he’s......... massive lol.
If that's the case, the poster above that suggested moving Dermott for a forward and bringing in Oleksiak has an interesting idea.

Only problem would be the 14 days. Is Sandin healthy enough to step in during that time?

Hyman would've gotten 5+ under normal circumstances -maybe Edmonton would still throw that at him- but I think he comes in at 4-4.5 over 5-6 years, mid-loaded with lots of bonus and an NMC/NTC.

You play to win the game. This isn't a rebuilding team. This is a core built to win now in a season and divison setup which gives them the best chance at a Cup since 1967

Yes and if you pay historical attention, luck plays a huge role. Smart money gives itself as many realistic chances as possible.

The Ekholm thing hasn't been dismissed by anybody yet. It still has legs
