Since Nylanders a ufa who (imo) likely won't extend with them which would kill the value of the deal. Vancouver would likely be looking to add a similarly aged guy or even younger if they move out Pettersson

It would need to be a sign and trade...with Nylander being cool with getting his bag...

It's unlikely when he can choose his landing spot but we can get him the 8 years versus 7 so small chance.

I wonder if there is a Nylander fit with CBJ - assuming they would give him 10Mx8. A package of Jenner, Peeke, Bemstrom would be awesome. This assumes Nylander just wants the most money possible and also that he would sign a contract to play for Babcock again.

Jenner and Peeke are signed for 6.5M combined for the next 3 seasons.

I don't think they move Kuzmenko for Nylander straight up. If anything because Kuzmenko is signed for 5M for the next 2 seasons. I think any move is centered around Garland and one or both of their young roster players in Podkolzin/Hoglander.
They should have little value. I wasn't the least bit surprised they ended up in the minors last year.
Out of the two Podkolzin is IMO the more likely to become an effective NHLer. Probably not as an offensive player but as a physical 2 way energy guy.

That wouldn't be bad. I think the main issue is would Nylander agree to play for Babcock, especially on a long term deal.

It would suck to lose Nylander, but if we can’t keep him, this kind of deal would work.

Jenner improves our Top 6 and ups our competitiveness, and Peeke let’s us move Brodie, freeing up $5m in cap and getting us more assets in trade.

Brodie is still a very a good asset and will have value. It’s just smart business to move him while we can, before likely losing him for nothing as a UFA next July.

Recoup some Draft capital and shave $5m off our cap, and bring in a 25 year old RHD who can pair with Rielly for the long term in one move.

Works for me.

And want to live in Columbus and commit his future to a team that hasn't been close to successful (minus the fun Tampa sweep in 2020). Which imo probably isn't happening. I personally don't see him agreeing to a sign and trade in most scenarios

That's a no for me dawg.

If we're shipping Nylander to CBJ because they want him, I'm going to need to see some of the bluechippers they've been stockpiling.

I kinda wonder... won't be a popular option and I'm not sure I'd be able to stomach it, but does Willie need to walk the free agency gangplank to next July 1 like Steven Stamkos vs Yzerman to realize he actually just wants to play in Toronto? Will he come to that decision? I wonder...

As of today we are still over cap even when waiving gambrell/jones/benoit and sending robertson down.

Only way we are cap compliant is a 20 man roster with Timmins waived. Gotta think someone will get moved soon.

They are compliant if they run 11-7.

Holmberg/Knies can go down.

I still think they should waive Reaves and hope he gets claimed

To Toronto-
Adam Larsson
Shane Wright
Andre Burakovsky

To Seattle-
William Nylander
T.J Brodie
Nick Robertson

Bertuzzi-Matthews-Marner
Domi-Tavares-Burakovsky
Knies-Wright-Jarnkrok
Reaves-Kampf-Lafferty

Rielly-Larsson
McCabe-Klingberg
Benoit-Liljegren
Giordano

This trade allows Wright to develop without the pressure of being in the top 6 and eventually take over the 2C position once Tavares contracts runs out.

Wright would have more pressure in Toronto

I doubt Columbus could give up their #1C at this point. They just aren't deep enough at C to do this trade.

I got thread banned (my own proposal) for suggesting Jenner/Peeke to TOR. Granted I offered Robertson, Timmins, and Lafferty. I suppose if I offered Nylander things would have been different.

It's an interesting proposal you make. Can we even afford 6.5 million this season?

Honestly. I think Treliving should cut his losses with Nylander. Get a top 4 D, a 1st, and a prospect for Nylander.

for once...I think this is a decent proposal. well done...

I am scared... though... did something new happen in your life? I have to know the reasoning behind this.

It depends if Johnson is an NHL C. I see Fantilli, Johnson, Roslovic, Sillinger, Kuraly on that roster as C’s.

Long term, yes. But Fantilli is 18 and a rookie. Johnson is just into his second year.

This is Babcock we are talking about. Jenner has been the heart of this franchise, and I think they'd move Roslovic first, particularly as he's a UFA at the end of this season, and probably not part of the picture long-term, once Fantilli and Johnson adjust... but Jenner would be an ideal 3C for them (as he would be for us).

Nylander would need to except a trade to Columbus which I don't think he would.

I agree, he probably wouldn't accept a trade to Columbus, but I don't think Columbus would do that deal either.

I’m wondering if they would go for more volume. Like a few cost controlled guys a a the Eichel trade.

I've proposed a very similar trade, with Larsson and Wright for Nylander basis. I included Bjorkstrand, as he becomes redundant for them, but gives us a decent RW on a longer-term contract. Burakovsky is LW, and was their leading scorer before getting injured. They are pretty weak at LW otherwise...

But your trade is decent.

I also don't think there is less pressure for Wright in TO... but then it's easy for him to play for the Marlies here too, until he's ready. I also think the experience and quality of our C's, would help him for the future. Tavares and Wright also play a somewhat similar game, so he could benefit from that.

Seattle fans do hate this.. but then, us fans don't make the trades anyway.

Cap wouldn't work for Toronto on the original one unfortunately unless Toronto made additional moves.
