None of us know what is happening on this front. We don't know what he's been offered, what he's asking for, whether or not there's agreement in place waiting on another transaction to take place, etc. We can only speculate about it.
Friedman claims Sandin believes his worth is similar to Boqvist at $2.6 mil x 3 years. As you say, nobody knows the accuracy of this. Leafs likely won’t move anyone until they get Sandin signed. It wouldn’t shock me to see him sign a 1 year deal, to prove he deserves such a deal at this stage, unless there can be some sort of compromise with term.

Is there a move to be made for someone like Severson ? Muzzin for a pick, sign Sandin.

Rielly - Brodie (or Severson)
Giordano - Liljgren
Sandin - Severson (or Brodie + more mins for this pair)

Should we be comparing a LW with a centre ? Are not centres more valuable and usually cost more ?

Just wondering

give sandin his damn deal already. He will be worth double 2.6 by year 3 but I'm pretty sure you can lower it closer to Jake Bean. We already invested too many years in him just to lose him because muzzin wants one more attempt to stay healthy. NHL doesn't cease to exist after the 22/23 season. Sandin is a decade long investment from here when it's all said and done, whereas muzzin brodie and gio are nearing their expiry dates.

I was starting to dislike Sandin's skillset, but if he can remain healthy after adopting the subtle punishing style of play along the boards, he's suddenly back to big time potential with that physicality, high IQ, hands and skill.

I think Looking at our cap and needing to resign Bunting next year we should get ahead of the cap issues and move muzzin to a team like Anaheim. Then Sign Sandin and target in trade Trenin who is at 1.7 per for two seasons and Mayfield who is at 1.4 for this season.

Lawson Crouse getting ready for his Arbitration Hearing on Monday, with the Coyotes offering $2.5m and his camp asking for $4 million.

Worth watching what happens there.....

JT has 276 in his past 280? Damm feels like he was closer to 75 per 82 than almost 82 per 82

He honestly produces a lot for a giu you don't notice much.

Not in the playoffs of course with 14 pts in 20 as a leaf but in the reg season I didn't realize he'd put up that many pts
He's still putting up points, but more and more of them are via the PP and secondary assists.

He’s going to get $3.25 to $3.5 mil, honestly more than he’s worth so far. He’s a rare type of player though, but he needs to play with more skilled players to get more offence out of him. At this point, Arizona is really capping his career earning potential. He’s 25 though, so it would be rare to expect more offensive upside with him as a player, without a change in line mates. 34 points is his career high so far. I’d take him at $3 mil per, if there was term though.

Senators Claim Adam Gaudette Off Waivers From Blackhawks

November 27, 2021

It is a busy waiver day for Ottawa today. After officially placing Matt Murray on waivers, the Senators have claimed center Adam Gaudette off waivers from the Blackhawks, reports TSN’s Chris Johnston.

Gaudette’s agent Matt Keator told Scott Powers of The Athletic that GM Kyle Davidson was doing Gaudette a favor by putting him on waivers so that he could go somewhere where he could play more regularly. He should get that opportunity in Ottawa, a team that has shuffled quite a few players in and out of their bottom six in the early going this season. However, things haven’t gone as well this season as he has played in just eight games – recording only two points – and spending the rest of the time as a healthy scratch. The 25-year-old will once again be a restricted free agent this summer with a $1MM qualifying offer.

Senators' Mete and Gaudette not receiving qualifying offers, will become UFAs

July 11, 2022

The Ottawa Senators are not sending qualifying offers to defenceman Victor Mete and forward Adam Gaudette, general manager Pierre Dorion announced Monday, making them both unrestricted free agents come Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Mete began his career in Montreal after the Canadiens drafted him 100th overall in 2016. He played in parts of four seasons with the franchise before the Senators claimed him off waivers in April 2021. Mete, played 37 games for the Senators last season, finishing the campaign with seven assists and a minus-19 rating. While 25-year-old Gaudette joined the Senators last season, also off waivers, and produced 12 points in 50 games. Neither player played a part in Sens future plans.

Toronto Maple Leafs have snapped up all 3 former Ottawa Senators Matt Murray, Adam Gaudette and Victor Mete this summer.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bunting is another cap casualty tbh unless he repeats his seasons and signs a deal that starts with a 4.

I feel like a big reason why TOR hasn't really made commitments on LW or tried to address it via trade in a big way is because three of their better prospects can all play that side and bring a nice mix of skills (Knies/Robertson/Amirov). Wouldn't be the least bit shocked if they are in the Top 9 together as soon as 2023-24.

I thought Amirov was a RW, can he play left-wing? That would be great seeing as we are okay down the right and weak on the left. Out of the 3 I'm betting one of them takes it and runs. If Bunting asks for too much I can see us mixing those 3 between 1st and 2nd line and hope we got something

If anyone is going to give the Leafs a break on a contract on this team it will be Mike. First chance he got he came home and took less for 2 years. He knew he would eventually get his shot in the top 6 and he made the most of it. I can see a 5 or 6 year deal at 3.75 to 4 mill. Contract security will be the biggest factor. Hes thrilled to be a Leaf and to be playing with Marner and Matthews. His family also loves that he's a Leaf especially his dad.

I believe Amirov's primary position is LW

I swear I heard the same thing with Hyman, haha. But if he wants to stay here at that AAV, then sure.

I've reached the point that I'm not even wishing for players in their prime to take hometown discounts with the Leafs. I don't want to see them doing that to themselves. This money earning potential is fleeting especially for players who are late bloomers. I thought perhaps Hyman might possibly be different because I believe a front office job awaits after his career and he might like to maintain ties to MLSE.

The salary cap was a classic faustian deal for Canadian teams. Canadian teams got the surety of revenue sharing that protects them from collapse during recessions but they also got a system that competitively handicaps them in comparison to most U.S. locales in a permanent way.

I know health has been a big issue, but we really do need Muzzin for his style and leadership he brings. He's something we sorely lack on D. If Sandin thinks he's worth the moon now ...imagine what a headache he'll be if he puts together a year or two actually making/playing in the top 4. He's been our #6-#7 and is an RFA... usually an easy contract to get hammered out (see Liljegren...who I actually think is better, and bonus is a RHD). Keep Muzzin, and cross that cap bridge when you get to it. Package Sandin with someone like Kerfoot or Holl to become cap complaint, and get a hopefully promising young player in return that comes at a low dollar figure.
