We can expect some NHL news prior to season opening.

Training camps are going to cause many injuries which just happen to bring teams into compliance with the Cap.

Making things up for the sake of it.

Most likely cap moves:
1. Kerfoot - No explanation needed.
2. Holl - We tried to trade him last year.
3. One of Clifford/Simmonds - Redundant skillset

Off the board cap moves
1. Sandin - If we can't agree to a contract then I suppose this is a cap related trade.
2. Muzzin - High cap hit for a 33 year old whose oft injured. Sounds like management has no interest in moving him.
3. Brodie - Very rarely discussed. We would be selling high for once. This is a 32 year old who can play LD/RD and had a great year. 2 more seasons of 5M. I don't want to move him, depending on a return I think Kyle Dubas would be doing his job if he got a great offer to turn back the clock on this asset.

We may consider moving Brodie and Muzzin next year, but I think Sandin and Liljegren need one more year before we consider moving either (without acquiring someone else right away anyways).

The first three can be replaced internally this year.

1. You are avoiding my question.
2. When do we start giving Sakic credit? 2013 or 2014?
1. Your question is misleading. What's relevant is that we've seen 4 seasons with Dubas as GM. The 2022-2023 season hasn't happened yet, and we're not even currently finished this offseason.
2. Either way, you misrepresented the situation that Sakic took over. See 4thline's post for a more accurate representation.

Personally I wouldn't. I can respect a good rebuild. I thought Lou was excellent in 2015-16 and then his moves became progressively worse once he started competing. The only blunder I can see on Sakic's resume is the O'Reilly trade, letting Stastny walk for free, drafting Jost and the Beauchemin, Calvert contracts. That's not bad when you consider this is his 10th off season.

Maybe it’s not the moves that are Questionable, but the judgement of them. Nobody gets style points for a great looking rebuild that fails to achieve the goals. In all seriousness, you wouldn’t even be talking about Sakic if they hadn’t won the cup.

Five years ago they were so bad, they lucked into Makar, under Sakic.

All this revisionist BS because someone else won and we haven’t (yet), I’m mad and am going to throw my toys around posting. I wonder if we do have success, if these posters will give Kudos to Dubas for any success he might have, or are they hoping that we fail, so that they are proven correct and can win internet points?

It really is weird behaviour.

The bolded is 100% true. I wasn't the one who brought him up. He was being compared to Dubas and I joined in because I don't believe they are comparable.

We can say the same thing about the Leafs lucking into Marner.

1. It is a literal fact.
2. I read the post and mostly agree. I aired my grievances in a separate post.

At least you are consistent with these proposals in making the team worse.

Are people trying to trade brodie? I thought he was our most reliable D we’ve had in years.

Trade Muzzin makes sense if Muzzin is slowing down and can’t stay healthy but that’s a really hard person to replace with his skill set.

Maybe Muzzin for Oleksiak or Soucy etc but I don’t see Seattle doing it.

Would Minnesota consider moving Greenway? A deal involving Robertson and Kerfoot for Greenway and a 2nd?

I’d consider it. The 2nd might be stretching it if I was on the other side.

If you had Greenway, you’d trade him for Kerfoot and Robertson? When Kerfoot will be a UFA after this year and Greenway 3 years.

From the Leafs perspective, you want to trade a 50 point guy and a prospect at PPG at 20 in the AHL, for a guy with a career high of 32 points? It’s improbable that he ever produces as much as either Robertson, or Kerfoot will, but he is big. Shrug.

Not really seeing a strong case for having us 31st. We didn’t really lose anything we didn’t replace except for Lyubushkin

Minnesota just signed greenway to 3 years extension. They aren't moving him. They did so to keep their 3rd line together, one which allowed 6 goals even strength all year

I personally believe trenin from Nashville would be the perfect player for our 2nd line with Nylander and Tavares. Hes comparable to Jeannot and could potentially produce much more on our team all while providing a physical presence and can drop the gloves as well. He looks to be on the predators 4th line to start the year so he could be attainable.
