Nylander + Engvall + Holl
For
JT Miller + Horvat (retention) + Schenn

Bunting-Matthews-Miller
Robertson-Tavares-Marner
Kerfoot-Horvat-Jarnkrok
Malgin-Kampf-ZAR

Rielly-Schenn
Giordano-Liljegren
Sandin-Brodie

Samsonov
Murray

I think that definitely makes us a better team, at least right now.
Nylander and Miller are close in value, Engvall + Holl don't get u a rental horvat.

Dubas should have just given Lyubushkin the money in the off-season and sorted out the cap afterwards. He's exactly the player they could use right now. Could've paid for Bush by subtracting Engvall.

I still think Jake McCabe would be a perfect target. A defensive defenceman who plays physical, blocks shots, can get the puck out of danger areas and has a good first pass, can play both sides of the ice and wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to acquire. He’s also got another year on his contract.

To Toronto: Jake McCabe (1 million retained)
To Chicago: 2024 2nd Rounder + Nicholas Abruzzese

To Toronto: 2023 4th Rounder
To St. Louis: Justin Holl

Rielly - McCabe
Brodie - Liljegren
Giordano - Sandin/Benn

Then upfront, Konecny or Bertuzzi would be my target. Bertuzzi would only be an option if we know we can extend him, if he’s a rental than no thanks.

To Toronto: Travis Konecny
To Philadelphia: Nick Robertson + Alex Kerfoot + 2023 1st Rounder

Konecny - Matthews - Nylander
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Engvall - Holmberg - Jarnkrok
Aston Reese - Kampf - Malgin

We’ll also have Knies as a post deadline addition once his season is finished.

People! We arent trading marner or nylander this year. If we get put iut furst round then new management can do that in the off-season.

We don’t need some great offensive dman we need one with size, uses his body, will drop the gloves if need be and blocks shots.
Edmundson or mccabe that type of player

We need three scoring lines because everyear the top two get shut down.

Trade for Kane at 50 per cent

Bunting matthews kane
Knies tavares marner
Malgin holmberg nylander
Insert the rest when needed

Reilly Benn
Gio lilly
Sandin edmundson/mccabe
Mete

Trade holl kerfoot engval for picks or include for team upgrade or cap gain

Use robertson,picks from above players
And B prospects like SDA
To acquire top three forward and tough defensive dman

It would be nice to dress more than 1 RHD.

According to Habs fans, Edmundson is much better on the left side.

I am not super excited about Sandin, but if we're going to upgrade, no doubt the top priority is a righty.

Not a Holl hater like many, but I do think a championship team has him and Benn fighting for 10min a night, not Holl playing 20+.

Sandin needs to play on his strong side. Him playing on his weak side is really hurting him right now. But he does have potential and his lower cap hit next season can come help a lot, especially if Gio slows down and moves more into a 7th defenceman role allowing Sandin to move back on the left.

Didn't Sandin play will Liljegren last night?

At the end of the day, we've got:

Mo
Brodie
Giordano
Sandin
Benn

who all look better on the left side, and I don't think Sandin deserves a spot more than the guys above him. Sure, Brodie can play both sides and has played on the right more, but I think he's better on the left.

Calgary has 3 very strong RHD options and they are having a slow start to the season. Weegar probably won't move due to his new contract and Tanev is in a weird place where he doesn't have the value at his age to warrant them moving off of him. Andersson makes the most sense and it would realistically take Nylander. Calgary is 23rd in goals for so the need for offense is there. They also have 1 true RW in the top 9 (Toffoli). I am not sure if Calgary would have to add to Andersson because they are taking on 2.4M in salary and giving up 2 years of term. Andersson has been playing 25 minutes/night this year.

Treliving rightly or wrongly gets credit for being a bold GM after this off-season so he would in theory be willing to pull off a big move like this (I don't think his moves were that bold - most GMs would sign Kadri for 7M this off-season and most GMs would move off of Tkachuk for the package he did if they were offered it).

For those that remember - there was a lot of chatter, on here and in the media (Athletic) of Andersson for Kapanen in the summer of 2017.

I'd look to package Sandin for an upgrade before he ages out of 'developing' and 'potential' and is flipped for a third-rounder like what happened with Dermott.

Fully acknowledge the recency bias behind the claim, as he hasn't convinced yet this season nor matched his performance from last.

Seems kind of like the jt signing all over again i like Dobson but 1 for 1 not a chance and tbh I think you keep marner and just split him n matthews up and we don’t need an offensive right shot we need a simple physical defensive right shot Dobson and muzzin would look good though
The JT signing would have been fine if it wasn't 11M. Horvat at the Kadri contract until he's 35 wouldn't be the same anchor that JT is. Dobson could be the best RHD the Leafs have had in 20+ years.

What I meant by that was we already had a 2c when we got Tavares instead of rounding out our dcore, paying a premium for horvat doesn’t make sense to me over filling the top 4 right shot void and I’m not giving up the best right winger in the league 1 for 1 for a could be not saying dobson isn’t a good player it just has to be more than juss dobson and I rather hold on to marner and get a defensive defencemen

Only one of those players shoots right. It's painful watching Sandin/Benn try to dig the puck off the wall. It's beneficial having players play their strong side.
I agree that RHD should be our top priority. But our right-side bas been painful to watch for years and nothing has been done about it, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I would really rather use Muzzins cap space on an impact forward. Brodie will be back soon and is comfortable on the right side. Apart from last night, our scoring has been bad and we usually struggle in the playoffs there as well.
