Leafs legend on waivers.
I am guilty of wanting him as well but he hasn't looked like he has the spark atm. It's odd when I caught a couple of games this year.Does he really upgrade anything in our top 9? I feel like he doesn't really add much of anything anymore and he hasn't really developed into a consistent player. On paper he might feel like a solid mid line forward but he's really not all that good.
I wonder if people feel the need for a 3C because of concerns over how long JT can play the 2C slot so may need a 3C who can step up when needed.
I think they need a Muzzin replacement if he is out long term/is retiring essentially. Don't see how they progress far without him or another physical defensively strong too 4D
Came back just this offseasonWow, I had no idea he was even still in the league.
Acquiring Horvat adds an entirely new dimension to our lineup. 3 lines that are legitimate scoring threats.
Likely takes Knies, 1st ++ though
I'd be all over it. Him or ROR is the dream.
Ya it is not looking ideal in the short or long term, however I wonder if Dubas and co will op to grab a LW and shift Kerfoot back to center for the time being if they can't find a suitable 3C. Some options there but I feel like there are no internal replacement for Muzzin so you gotta grab someone if he is out the seasonI completely agree on the primary need being the Muzzin replacement.
Tonights lineup. We actually don't really have a 3C. Maybe Holmberg sticks... we can hope so... Otherwise, the third line is hardly every out there for faceoffs, The third line hasn't shown any chemistry, or capability to score consistently.. they are needing an identity. It would be fantastic if Holmberg sticks, but if he's not good enough, or not ready, who actually plays 3C? It's a problem, maybe not as big a problem as a Muzzin replacement though. That ONE game Engvall/Holmberg/Jarnkrok played together, I thought that they were decent.... Let's see tonight.
Forwards
#58 Michael Bunting – #34 Auston Matthews – #88 William Nylander
#15 Alex Kerfoot – #91 John Tavares – #16 Mitch Marner
#47 Pierre Engvall – #29 Pontus Holmberg – #19 Calle Järnkrok
#12 Zach Aston-Reese – #64 David Kämpf – #62 Denis Malgin
3 way between Leafs, Vancouver, and Chicago:
Leafs in: Horvat, Murphy
Leafs out: Marner (+?)
Vancouver in: Marner
Vancouver out: Horvat, 1st (+?)
Chicago in: 1st (+?)
Chicago out: Murphy
To be fair, his TOI/G is hovering around 11 minutes. Hard to gain traction when you're on the ice less than 4 min/period.Scored 2 goals one game, probably on adrenaline.
Has not looked impressive since.
Malgin is outplaying him, easily.
Seems kind of like the jt signing all over again i like Dobson but 1 for 1 not a chance and tbh I think you keep marner and just split him n matthews up and we don’t need an offensive right shot we need a simple physical defensive right shot Dobson and muzzin would look good thoughI proposed it a week ago I’ll propose it again. If you’re shaking up the roster in the off-season:
Marner for Dobson
Sign Horvat 7x7
Cap offsets for Toronto, Leafs get a good young RHD, Islanders get a play who can ignite provide significant offense while subtracting from a position where they are deep (assuming they keep Mayfield). Islanders can afford Marner with Varlamov’s money coming off the books.
