He's a free agent next year. A winger also. Not A C like eichel who got three 1st round picks or less
A. He's got two years left, not one.
B. Sure he loses marks for being a W not C, but that's more than washed out by not having a potentially career ending injury/surgery hanging over him
C. Eichel's trade value is chronically underrated. Krebs had more value than your generic first round pick, and a prime age power foward with term in Tuch is worth multiple 1st rounders on his own

He’s not a free agent next year and you’re comparing him to a center that had potential career ending surgery as a possibility. I think most people around the hockey world would take Marner over Eichel even though he’s a center.

If the Leafs moved on from Marner they should be looking at Dobson. Both players have ~3 years left on their deals. NYI get young offense, Toronto gets a very good young RD while saving ~7M in cap space.

Why does one of the big 4 NEED to be traded? Tavares is up soon and won’t re-sign anywhere close to his 11. You can keep all 4 and still reallocate the money at some point.
By the time the Tavares contract is up, Matthews and Marner will be on new lucrative contracts. Our Stanley Cup window will be closing by then too. The time to win it all is now IMHO. Should have been last year.

Sure, we have the Washington SC win as an example, however, they haven't come close again since their win.

With our high priced core, we should have at least seen a couple of SC championship wins like the TBL achieved.

Niemela on a ELC replacing Brodie ...

Holy crap some of you are overvaluing mitch Marner. He's also a free agent next year. Philly laugh at you

Ur the most unrealistic here. Philly quickly says no
Why is this non-Leaf fan allowed to make judgements on the Leaf boardf?

We don’t really need Carter Hart, especially if Samsonov continues his current play.

To Toronto: Ivan Provorov + Travis Konecny + Tyson Foerster

To Philadelphia: Mitch Marner + Filip Kral

Would people really expect yo get both those players for marner? Really.. maybe one and some stuff

Would you trade provorov and konecny and foerster for marner?

If you can find a team looking to change like the Panthers were for MT, then you might get Provorov and Koneckny for Marner and something. Not a chance in hell you are getting Hart the way he is playing. That ship has sailed.

New York islanders are trading a superstar young #1d

Hard no. Marner stays unless it's 1 for 1 change of superstar scenery

Is Dobson a superstar 1D? Im not denying he can be but he’s playing 20 minutes/night this year and the Islanders have 2 RD perfectly capable of playing top 4 minutes in his absence. You are also ignoring the fact that Marner has been the best RW in the league the last 2 years (1st team all star).

If Sandin put up 50 points last year, we’d all be calling him a superstar, right?

I doubt there's another player in the league available for that. The shortlist of those who we actually would may be single digits. It may actually make more sense to round out our depth with 2-3 quality pieces.

No, if I remember correctly Barrie put up numbers like that and no way in hell is he a superstar and nobody would call him that

You have to be able to defend good competition and put up points before your called that

Doing some dumpster diving on Capfriendly.

Tyler Parsons
J-F Berube
Gerry Sparks

But probably Dylan Ferguson.

Petruzzelli probably signs tomorrow if needed. Whether that is a NHL contract or PTO, who knows.

Is he eligible for a PTO?

I agree they likely sign him to an NHL contract of some sort even if they plan on making a trade. Obviously we need the body.

Petruzzelli has been on a hot streak so I won't discount him at the NHL level yet, but yikes....what a situation for the Leafs to be in.

We all know goaltending was going to be dicey this season but this is worse than expected.

This is a big week for Kallgren .. if he struggles through the next couple of games, the Leafs likely make a goalie trade.

If he can be solid, that might ease some concerns. Still, a better insurance policy for the long term might be considered.

Names to be considered:

- Reimer
- Stolarz
