This is a go for it year. They have expiring contracts coming up in the next couple years, starting with Dubas and they have the big-4 forwards after that, who will all be UFA and will get the chance to pick a spot. Dubas will want to earn a new deal and avoid being fired and winning a round or two would go a long way in being able to retain all of their top end talent. They have had a top-5 pace in points percentage all year long. They play in one of the toughest divisions in hockey with Boston and Tampa Bay and they may play them back to back in the playoffs. Each of these teams will be adding top players and they should try and keep pace. Unfortunately the market is mostly rentals, if you can't secure one of the top guys with term you still have to keep pace in the arms race. Being cheap is not the right move at this stage. They are adding a good a forward, it has to be one of the big boys because 5-10 teams are getting significantly better at forward this deadline.
