Forward trade I'd like are Timo Meier, nick bonino and bertuzzi. No idea how to make it happen. But it adds skill, some size and experience.
If we're playing Schenn over a much better defensemen in Sandin I would say Dubas and Keefe have lost the plot and probably should be replaced.
I'm all for adding a tough hard hitting defensemen if they can handle a top 4 role and not hurt our puck movement (Peeke). I'm not giving up assets and sitting Sandin to play Schenn who is getting caved in in sheltered minutes on a bad team.
Sandin needs to play now. He's earned a spot in the top 6 and we need he and Liljegren to start playing playoff games. All of the recent cup winning teams had young D playing big minutes at times and a lot of them had similar profiles to our guys.
Knies - O’Reilly - Barbashev?!If they can get Ror and barbashev for 1 st pick, hirvonen 3rd and a 6th ( double retention of RoR)... lets do it right now
You add pratically a full 3rd line
Barbashev-ror
Im just telling if someone have to fall out of the line up, it will be sandin... i never tell schenn was a better choice
I like Bonino. Not sure he has much jam left but could be a sneaky cheap acquisition.
I also really like Sundqvist from Detroit. Played a pretty important role for STL in their cup win, still young, massive and has “edge”. Just not sure if he’s played any Centre lately.
Odd that there haven’t been any rumours about Larkin, who is a pending UFA.
Knies - O’Reilly - Barbashev?!
If the goal is to insulate a kid like Knies, that would be one Hell of a way to do t!Knies ROR Barbashev
I’m liking that 3rd line!
With injury issues and poor play I would not give up Knies or Minten in trade for ROR at the deadline. The main chip would be the 1st rd. pick, the prospect would be more in the Hirvonen range. I would give up Minten in a deal for Timo or Konecny, as you get two guaranteed years of Timo and 3 guaranteed years of Konecny in those deals for a player who is currently in their prime.I think that St. Louis asks for Minten in a trade rather than getting a smaller scoring winger. Just the way they have built their team, seems like it would be Minten vs. Hirvonen or Niemala.
Sorry - I guess you missed the sarcasm in my post.Sandin needs to play now. He's earned a spot in the top 6 and we need he and Liljegren to start playing playoff games. All of the recent cup winning teams had young D playing big minutes at times and a lot of them had similar profiles to our guys.
You definitely want him to be insulated when making such a huge jump. Not only is he going from NCAA to the NHL, but jumping into the NHL at the end of the season! He’ll be coming up when all the players are gearing up for the playoffs. If the goal is to insulate a kid like Knies, that would be one Hell of a way to do t!
Fraser Minten + 2023 1st rd. pick (Lottery Protected) + 2024 2nd rd. pick for Timo Meier (50% retained) or Travis Konecny
Roni Hirvonen + 2023 1st rd. pick (Lottery protected) for ROR or Vlad Tarasenko or Patrick Kane or Dylan Larkin or Bo Horvat (All 50% retained)
That doesn’t work.I’m still expecting to hear something sneaky from management. Is it possible we didn’t put Muzzin on LTIR and are actually accumulating cap space? Or does that not work? Follow up question, in that scenario does Matthews on IR help accumulate too or only when ltir?
Good size, physical, cup winner and can go better than PPG and score 30-40 goals a year at full health. You could do worse than the tank. You can remove tarasenko of that list, his price will never be that high. I would not be surprise if barbashev bring more than tarasenko
I'm going to assume Horvat has a strong say in this.
Can't see how he would want to go anywhere other than to the Bruins, which is going to make them even more of a Stanley Cup favorite, as if they weren't already......
I'd agree. What would it take?Pretty crazy to me the Leafs aren't all over Horvat. He fits exactly what they need to me.
I hope they have a good plan.
He already is?Maybe because he wants to go home to play for his childhood team?
I've like Bonino and Backlund for the same type of roles.
