Exactly .. I mean even if he's declined, if going to a contender motivates him and you give him softer matchups in the bottom 6 (with spot duty in the top 6) that could be some valuable depth scoring.
Still not my focus though.
Never really understood people that predict stuff like this based on nothing.Fearless prediction/hot take: Knies doesn't want to play in Canada.
Not sure why Kane would be someone the Leafs want.
Friedman: Why Maple Leafs Are Most Fascinating Team Ahead Of Trade Deadline

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman joins Tim & Friends to discuss the latest on the NHL trade market, including the Arizona Coyotes holding out Jakob Chychrun, what makes the Toronto Maple Leafs so interesting, and where Patrick Kane could be headed.
You're trading for 2023 Kane who's offense is not that great anymore, is injured and gives up way more on d than he creates in production. It doesn't matter how good his playoff resume is.The Leafs have had a lot of issues scoring in the playoffs over the last few years, especially in Game 6 and 7. Adding a player that has 3 cups and a ton of scoring skill would go a long way in helping that. Kind of like when Pittsburgh added Kessel to their top players. This is also why Meier is at the top of the wishlist.
Obviously adding a more competent 2-way and physical player that can still be good offensively would probably be more preferable.
He played like a man trying to get noticed for sure. Another player I thought was sneaky good is Raddysh. He looked really good to me. Big boy, good in his own zone and very good contract.Lafferty scores just to say; please trade for me, look what I can do.
would love Lafferty personally. shouldn't cost to much to acquire, cheap (can still add more if you're wanting to) and adds elements this team is missing.Lafferty scores just to say; please trade for me, look what I can do.
The Leafs should probably aim higher than a 34 year old with a bad hipThe Leafs have had a lot of issues scoring in the playoffs over the last few years, especially in Game 6 and 7. Did he quote or cite anyone from the Leafs? Or is just stating the obvious.Friedman says the Leafs are looking for forwards with Snarl and Physicality.
Also says that the Leafs know that Tampa is a very skilled team, but also play like a bunch of "a$&holes" lmao. Interesting to hear that. Pretty much echoes my sentiments.

Agreed. I see Raddysh, Rasmussen, and Comtois as three players who can be acquired at a reasonable cost and are trending in the right direction or need a change of scenery. He played like a man trying to get noticed for sure. Physicality also included sacrificing your body to make a play. In the playoffs, it’s an absolute must. My the picture in my avatar is worth a thousand words.1-Outside of giving like knies and probably 2 1st pick, i dont see how leafs can just think about Meier
2I think people just overrating physicality... its not whats really matter
-chicago was less physical team in the league Both regular season and playoff 2013/2015
-pittsburgh was not really physical in playoff last 2 time they won it
Physacility is just a tool like speed is... whats really matter its how hard you working.
Ror is an name associated a lot to leafs but the way hes playing, im not sure thats the way leafs playing and not sure if he will be a better fit than foligno was...
Some people are obsess to become more like tampa' stl, washington, LAk when they won their cup... but the problem is the leafs are build like hawks in 2013/2015 or like pittsburgh im 16/17... playing fast, with speed, control the puck to play as much as you can to protect their D whos was not as good than what their offensive was...why trying to find player playing the way tampa playing? Do you think get people who will fit in tampa system but not particularly in leafs system will make leafs a better team a the end?
Kane fit 100% the way leafs playing and can bring an element leafs really need by giving more secondary scoring...its a guy you can use to get 3 solid line unstead of just focusing on top 6 whos already one of the 2-3 best in the league.
Personally i dont see a lot of player available who:
1-not gonna be overpay because of bidding wae
2- who want to play in Toronto and maybe resign here
3-a player we already know he will fit the way leafs playing
Rasmussen would be my top choice. I think he’s a perfect blend of what we’re looking for in a third line center.Agreed. I see Raddysh, Rasmussen, and Comtois as three players who can be acquired at a reasonable cost and are trending in the right direction or need a change of scenery.
maybe they finally go after Austin Watson, who i've wanted since before Ott got him. ...he can take a regular shift, PK, and is nasty.Friedman says the Leafs are looking for forwards with Snarl and Physicality.

other than Lafferty, the only defender that didnt look 'bad' last night was Seth Jones ...would love to get him, but, would need Chicago retain about 25% and then what would he cost to acquire, and would they consider even moving him at that price point?Lafferty would be a solid addition to the fourth line. Basically the only player that’s been noticeably in a positive way from Chicago…

Lafferty definitely played like he was trying to get noticed last night by the Leafs management group.
He’s also signed next year at like 1.1 million, could be a Kampf replacement if Kampf wants more than 1.75 million per.
Clifford is a tough guy that can skate fast, but cant play hockey worth a damn.Watson reminds me of Clifford. Could be a decent get but he does take a lot of dumb penalties. He's got a good story too with his addiction issues.
Lafferty would be ok but the Hawks want a lot for a very mediocre and late bloomer. He's basically in the same ballpark as ZAR in value. If the Leafs make a trade with Chicago, I could see the Leafs trying to get Lafferty included similar to how they got Blackwell with Giordano. Other than that, the Leafs need to get a whole lot better than Lafferty if they want to bolster their forward lines.
