Not even going to bother speculating about Knies signing or not.

I would expect the Leafs management have a handle on this. If their inclination is he isn't signing, then he will be traded for a major addition before the TDL, and it will be explained by Management that was the reason he was traded.

Having said that, nothing points in the direction of his not signing, starting with Matthews being his favorite player, and coming into a top NHL team with management committing to him a chance to start in big team roster.

Not even going to bother worrying about something like this. If he doesn't want to be here, with the set up we have, the opportunity to win, and the value and respect that our Management team has shown him over the last year in particular, well, I don't know what to tell you young man.

He will be a Leaf and in our lineup after his collegiate season is over. There is no reason to think otherwise.....

I dont understand what the positive thing about signing knies too soon and maybe lost 1 rookie contract season for an effective player who would probably not 100% NHL ready and probably dont have much more impact...

So losing 1 year of where the higher quality player/ salary are... for a team who will need to find great player at low salary for whats in reality? Should be a great idea??? How?!?!

Google says a lot of things - some of it true, some of it not - but it should also be noted that comparable =/= I want the exact same contract. There's no indication that Marner demanded the Matthews contract, and he certainly didn't get it either way.

Friedman seems like a good source...also enough info out there.

Another L for you.

P Kane after 2 periods.

0 G, 0 A, 0 Pts., -1, 0 PIM, 0 hits, 0 blocks, 1 SOG.

Lafferty would be a solid addition to the fourth line. Basically the only player that’s been noticeably in a positive way from Chicago…

He wouldn't upgrade anyone except ZAR, and even then it would be marginal at best.

Friedman is not a god. He's right sometimes. He's half right sometimes, but missing crucial context. He's wrong sometimes. There was a lot of misinformation floating around through that Marner negotiation, but more importantly, you seem to have missed the second part of my statement. Comparable =/= exact same contract. In fact, your google search helps show that, as many of those sites refer to "Matthews money" as a similar tier of pay, not an exact contract. And again, he didn't get the Matthews contract. Not sure why you're trying to misrepresent his last contract and fearmonger for his next one.

Kane’s defensive game was as advertised lol.

In saying that, when he was skating in the 3rd the speed still looked like it was there.

Let's not base us wanting Kane over one game guys, he's been this bad all season and equally as bad defensively basically his whole career!!

If he's not dirt cheap with retention I don't want him.

Exactly .. I mean even if he's declined, if going to a contender motivates him and you give him softer matchups in the bottom 6 (with spot duty in the top 6) that could be some valuable depth scoring.

Still not my focus though.

I prefer Domi tbh. He can play top 6 wing and is centre insurance in case of injury. Seems like an under the radar player that would be cheaper and doesn't need additional assets to retain salary cause he's cheap enough as is.
