Honestly Chych is already a risk and Crouse would be too. his term and cap hit ask a lot of him .
I'd rather they go for someone like Fischer, heavy fwd that is controllable RFA

If the Leafs ever do get Chychrun, which seems unlikely to me but not impossible, I do think they might do a one stop shop thing where they get a forward in the process as well. And no, it very likely wouldn't be Crouse for many different reasons (cap being one).

I think Hayton could be someone that fits and could use a new start. There's also Bjugstad and Travis Boyd as veteran depth forwards that would be ok... but they would add very little to the Leafs.

It’s not a legit price though. I understand that one GM paid that but others won’t. Crazy trades have happened but the Hagel trade isn’t the standard.

Also, we don’t know if Arizona wants to trade him or not.

Lehkonen 1st pick and barron
Kapanen 15th overall + hallander ( similar of value of 2 late 1st pick)

You add the fact hes a power foward and extremely solid in the defensive end... hes type of player every team want in their team...

I would focus on building a strong 3rd line. I think that would be the best way to go.

Knies Toews Jeannot

Now THAT would be a heck of a 3rd line, imo! Physical, defensively reliable, and scoring potential.

Not to mention the indisputable leadership that Toews would bring to the entire team.

Bjugstad would be a nice physical fourths line veteran centre to add.. but that really etches Kampf in that third line centre role and doesn’t help the offensive depth of the team
Having Kampf at 3c is part of why we're such a dominant team at ES. He's the defensive minded 3c that we spent years clamoring for before he arrived. If we want to add offensively, we should be looking to upgrade the third line wingers. Wings are cheaper and you can afford to sacrifice a bit of defense for offense, unlike centre who has to be the defensive engine of the line. Upgrade on Kerfoot or Engvall rather than pushing our best bottom sixer down into a smaller role.

Kampf is a beast and we're so lucky to have him.

Fischer is also a guy who can play anywhere in the lineup. While he is big and physical, he’s actually a very cerebral player. He’s very good defensively and works extremely well in combination with linemates. I think he would be a perfect fit with Tavares and Marner.

Whatever?... that's just a terrible take... no, you do something if it improves your team, now and into the future.
Obviously not whatever. But people are crying that it might cost Knies lol. Gotta pay up to acquire top talent.

So put you in the camp that there are no untouchables?

How much would you give up for Konecny?
I think if there’s a player with term, trading Knies or your 1st should be on the table, he’s an intriguing player no doubt, but at the end of the day he’s not a NHL player yet and not a top 6 forward yet. The shiny mystery box isn't better than an established top 6 forward.

I wouldn’t throw the farm at Konency, but I would fine trading our 1st, I think Toronto needs to find a top 6 forward with some term If they are looking to add.

Trade for tarasenko and barbashev

Bunting matthews nylander
Knies tavares marner
Tarasenko janrok barbashev

Jenner for 2023 1st, Sandin, Robertson

Probably too much but I overvalue Jenner.

McCabe @50% for 24 1st

Henrique @50% for 2nd, Steeves

Fast, Raanta for Engvall, Murray

This trade clears cap space this season, Carolina gets a goalie for next year.

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Jenner-Tavares-Jarnkrok
Knies/Holmberg-Henrique-Nylander
Kerfoot-Kampf-Fast

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Liljegren
Gio-Holl

Samsonov
Raanta

Next season run the same top 9 and McMann-Holmberg-Anderson as L4, Timmins replaces Holl and Woll replaces Raanta.

There’s no way in hell you give up that kind of haul for Jenner.

Arizona trades to get Timo Meier signed 9m x 8 years.
We trade Knies, 2023 1st, Robertson, b prospect, 2024 2nd
To get Timo with 2-3m retention?

Arizona gets Knies, hometown cheap contract to offset the retention. We get Timo for 6-7m

Any chance a team would retain that long? Would shortening the Timo years make this more plausible? Would we need to add more?

Have the 2024 1st/2023 3rd left for other upgrades.

Ratchuk coming off a 100+ season, I believe signs for 9.5mx8. Same Rat has 71 points in 50 games (116 point pace) this year playing for a worse Panther team. No way is Willie (or Mitch for that matter) worth more than this guy, especially being the 3rd best Leaf while Tkachuk is the best Panther.

Hoping we can get Willie for 8x8.5-8.8m if he remains a Leaf.

For that kind of haul, Peeke needs to be a part of the deal for Jenner. He’s a better fit for us than McCabe and won’t cost us our 2024 1st that you are offering.

The Devils I think are still a year away. They have been awful against teams currently in a top 10 spot, and feast on weaker opponents. Thwy are about to be very good though.

The Rangers are the team I think can beat anyone just with goaltending alone. They too are young, have loads of talent and I can see them upsetting anyone.

Make it a bigger deal to get Meier and Chychrun just to watch HF boards melt down…..

Rangers are the team I think that’ll come out from the East and are the only ones who I think can match up well with Boston in a series.

There’s plenty of other comparable players around the league, Forsberg, Fiala, etc. However, Dubas’ mistake was giving Matthews and Marner huge money out of their ELCs. Nylander is going to use his teammates as a comparable rather than other players on other teams.

I said I overvalue him.

I’m extremely low on Robertson and I think Jenner is worth a 1st+ because he’s locked in on a value contract and has scored at a 30 goal pace over the last 2 seasons (99 games).

It's just too much movement... nobody turns over a quarter of their lineup this time of year... at least not teams looking to compete. One, two sure, three pieces is rare. But five won't happen. If Jenner is truly available... I agree with other posters, and say ask for Peeke. Then I wonder... why have you put a pretty good C, a natural C on LW? I mean, if you want to upgrade LW... go ahead, get a LW... Comtois, Crouse...
