Lol I don't know how many of these comments I read about Lindholm last year before Boston acquired him.

I'll confess that I haven't watched much of Parayko this year, but I bet he's still perfectly fine.

The difference is nothing changed for Lindholm but the quality of his team. He continued in the same role, with the same partner but was treading water on a bad team.

Parayko was exposed in a shutdown role once Pietrangelo left.

I'm talking myself into Wade Allison. He's big, hits a lot, he'd be tied with Tavares for 4th on the Leafs in goals/60 at 5v5. He's signed through next season under 800k. He might be a change of scenery guy. He put up significantly better numbers than Knies is currently in his 19 year old season at WMU and has never been able to build off that but he could flourish given the right circumstances. He's been a positive defensive player since he's stepped into the league and has seen a jump in his offensive GAR this season. I could see him having a Bunting-esque trajectory.

Parayko is trash. Blues fans wanted him traded. Leafs should stay away from him. He's not as good as he was 3 years ago.

Clarke was a total cotton-headed ninny-muggins at the WJC, reminded me of Jake Gardiner. If LA can offload Turcotte at the same time, they’re laughing.
Damn I love it when somebody offers a new way to say 'he weren't that good'. I'm going to have to try and use it after a round of golf with the boys. :thumbu:

As to our boys in blue and white...I'm a bit surprised that Keefe's words after the game haven't sparked more discussion. He basically called them a bunch of cotton-headed ninny-muggins who's efforts as professionals were unacceptable. Yup, I'd agree with that. It's on the players. Far too often they offer less than what is required. I have watched this long enough.

Parayko is a big risk .. you're hoping he's just in need of a change of scenery. But then again are the Blues a bad defensive bunch? I don't think so ..

He has 7 years left on his deal and he'll be 30 in May ... the Leafs' have a lot of cap things to sort out and this would harm them in the short term.

I mean I would see what the price is out of curiosity but I don't know about banking on rebuilding his game. It would be nice to have another solid RHD behind Lily that could step into Brodie's role after next year but I don't think he's it. And then again, Brodie could still be re-signed for cheap and do a better job at a fraction of the cost.

It's starting to sound a whole lot like they were bluffing, to get a team to step up, and meet their price. Nobody did... move on.

Sounds like they are really close to trading him but yeah... definitely sounds like a team got really close and now they hope someone else offers more or matches or something. But to say he might play after holding out is really weird.

EDIT: Sounds like the coach will keep him out.

This is another negative post about a Leafs player.

I don't think anyone is surprised.

6 worst defenseman on the Habs

View attachment 649695

Its not a negative or positive post... just talk about what physical does it mean

And i dont understand why you post habs stats...

Hedman has never been much of a physical defenseman though. He has the puck a lot so his hits totals are lower, but that doesn't mean he's all that physical either. He's very much someone that defends with his attributes (skill, skating) over being physical along the boards or infront of the net. He's fantastic, so it's not a negative at all either.

Sandin is definitely physical in his own right. He'll crunch people.

To go back to the original point, Parayko is not physical at all. He's just a big guy that moves well and has skill. That's it, that's all.

Depend what is your definition or physical for sure,

Sandin against maroon/ perry line, what do you think it will happen.... whatever how hard he will try, he will be dominated in term of physicality against that kind of line... Sandin playing with a lot of grit yes but he cant be physical because of his lack of strenght... so for me sandin is a gritty player but not a physical one
To me it's being able to clear the front of the net, most our d struggle with that aspect.

Exact clearly the front and the net and winning 1v1 battle around the board

To be fair, I stole it from the movie Elf. But it’s definitely a fun line to use.

So size is the only thing that matters... we've moved the goal posts even more. Look at size = physical.

Sandin won't line up physically next to Maroon in height and strength, but he's never had that much of an issue handling those types of forwards for a reason though.

At the end of the day, instead of going in circles I will say that I agree that hits doesn't mean physical per say, but it's 100% part of the discussion and a large part of physical play when evaluating if a player is physical or not. Their physical stature helps the bigger players there for sure.

Massive price and risky contract for a guy who doesn't fill a need for us.

I'm more interested in a guy like Jake McCabe. More reasonable acquisition cost, defensively sound, can play top shut down minutes against good players + PK, and is reasonably physical.

No issue with Mccabe or seeking to fill an exact need...but Karlsson would take over as our pp QB and you can always use an elite puckmover in the playoffs. You can fill weaknesses, but another way to improve is to build on strengths.

It reminds me of that 2003 season where we added Brian Leech despite already having several offensive dmen (Kaberle, Jackman, Mccabe) and he was unbelievable and instantly became our best dman.

If we're looking at taking a home run swing...why not get both Mccabe and Karlsson? With retention on both we can fit them both in. The pair would cost us Sandin and probably 3 firsts, but would give us a legit first pairing tandem for the next 3 seasons. And then you can probably flip Holl for a solid bottom 6 forward.

Not necessairly the size, but the strenght...

Ror can be an exemple, put sandin in 1v1 battle competition against him and im pretty sure ror will win a big part of it

Leech actually played defense and back then I think we used 2 Dmen on the PP instead of one.

Friedman reiterated this morning on the 32 Thoughts podcast that there are work visa/COVID related non-vaccination issues with Bertuzzi and crossing the boarder that is causing Canadian teams to be cautious about him.
Didn't know about the work visa/COVID thing but sounds like he is the anti Bergkamp. Dennis Bergkamp is a football legend at Arsenal and Holland and beside his goals, he is most famous for fear of flying. He would miss away games due to traveling schedule. Bertuzzi will miss home games but won't miss any American Away games, lol.

The latter wouldn't be an issue as Karlsson wouldn't be unseating any dman that we'd miss on the PP. Former would be somewhat solved by pairing him with a good defensive dman like Mccabe or Gio.
