Oh ffs how about checking the facts before you post bullshits like this? The Leafs has literally more space than both of them
So If this is accurate the Leafs have -400k$ in cap space so unless Muzzin is retiring or done yes even though we got nothing to show for it we have no room to make moves, why we often have to sent players up or down to fix the cap when a player returns!!!!!!!
Tampa has 2.8M in cap space and the bruins 6.8 millions in cap space

I'm 1000% on the "don't trade Knies" train. This team isn't winning shit with Keefe. They need to not screw the next coach and wait for Dubas to pull his head out of his ass. Sadly, I think Dubas will sink with him.

They weren't winning with Babcock, who was too old school and played the vets. Now they aren't winning with Keefe because he doesn't make in game adjustments.

Maybe... just maybe.. it's not the coach.

Like Keefe said last night. He can't play for them. And a lot of the bad habits seem to be creeping back in. It's remarkable to think that a really good stretch of hockey is when they were playing with a depleted blue line and people were blocking shots.

Some will argue Keefe has been outcoached in the playoffs by 3 different coaches. One was Descharme who was fired the following year.

I would definitely agree that Keefe could have done more in previous games. But I'm talking about the general sentiment that the players should be held more accountable. I get that it's easier to blame / fire 1, than replace all.

Muzzin is 100% done for the year, if not his career

The Leafs have roughly 5 mill to spend with a 21 man roster, could be 8.5 if they deal Kerfoot.

Boston has 0 cap once they activate Debrusk who is nearing a return from injury

Tampa has about 2 mill if they go with a 21 man roster

Loads of people suggested it was the players back in the Babcock days. Boy, did they ever get lambasted for their opinion.

Lol Tampa is in on Tyler Bertuzzi.

I swear every year Tampa makes it a priority to grab as many Gritty players with offensive upside as they can and become a total pain in the ass to play against in the playoffs

They always get the targets I want the leafs to get.

What's the deal with Bertuzzi and his travel status? Something about not being able to come to Canada?

Tampa desire to win now is difference than the Leafs desire to win now. Not saying the Leaf should overpay and gamble on the future, but eventually the future is tomorrow and not 2 to 3 years for now and hoping team from their own division gets weaker and not thinking about the other 24 teams out there.

Montreal Series ... you can see where players should have done more.

Would be such a Tampa move. They’ll also re-sign Bertuzzi at a good cap hit and he’ll return to his form from last year lol.

Committing to Meier means Nylander is 100% gone this summer. His QO is 10 million. Maybe he settles for 8*8, but why would he?

Chychrun means we could keep the core 4 forwards together long term if we want too, and have an excellent defensive asset for many seasons ahead.

I guess the question is Meier worth 8*10, or would he be okay with 8*8.

Look at marner's

Meier could easily get over $10mm in year one.

Been decades since I've used my Texas Instruments NPV function so I won't try and figure it out today.

Chych was/is surplus to need, and we never had the space to extend Horvat, so he wasn’t coming here. Tank deal seemed like Dubas may have never even been called or known it was happening, but yes he was / is a great get, more so than ROR arguably. Looots of good names out there that fit our needs better though. Front and centre Timo Meier, who even as a rental then trade in summer would be excellent here.
Can’t argue. But to me Horvat was a back up in case Willy’s demands were too high this summer. Extend Horvat to replace and recoup assets.
So you were hoping for multiple players that were going to require a 2023 1st to acquire. Sounds reasonable.
seriously? One of them. Not all. Expect more from you.

Because he gets guaranteed financial security, and a team could give him say $12 million on year one of that deal.

With Foligno?

Foligno was the big fish because he filled that need (in theory).

He also spent assets on needed depth in Benning and brought Riley Nash. And then trading for goaltender depth in Rittich which was needed in lieu of Andersen’s injuries.

He solidified all of the rosters needs at the time.

Also brought in Muzzin as the big fish in 2019 … and then acquired Clifford and Campbell to address the toughness/backup goalie needs in 2020.

Lots of solid moves without gutting the farm

We didn't trade for Benning did we?

I think your thinking of that defenseman from the Kings

Think his name was hutton

But overall point stands

Not necessarily, they could trade Meier on a trade and sign deal and recoup some assets.
And Nylander is here for another year regardless.
The idea of Meier being signed means Nylander is gone reminds me of all the posters who said we could never keep all of Nylander, Matthews, Marner and Tavares.
Never say never!!!

And every time there's that certain part of the fanbase laughing at their "useless grit" as they go further than us in the playoffs.
