While I agree with this opinion of his, he's kind of lost the plot this year, and is saying some really out there things.
I really think Seravelli's hot takes are purely for the clicks.
What would it take?
beyond the obvious shit that this guy says - his takes are horribadSeravelli states that the Leafs are unlikely to sit tight with 12 forwards and 9D
I respectfully disagree on the offense. He had 1G1A last year against the same opponent we are facing this year. He had a career year last year with 51 points.
Based on the roster he would be playing with worse linemates this year, or at least linemates that he's shown very little chemistry with until this point in the season, his worst offensively since his first year in Toronto.
There is nothing to indicate he will do better than his 1G1A last year in a career year against the same opponent. I'd say it's pretty reasonable to think he will do worse.
You make a fair point that he's likely underappreciated for his defensive game. However I would argue even that was soured after he took an idiotic penalty in the offensive zone on a PK causing a 5 on 3 in a game 6 elimination game which directly lead to Tampa Bay tying the game. That doesn't eliminate his defensive game as a whole, but when he's contributing very little offensively, he can't afford to take stupid penalties. Certainly not ones that lead to such a significant goal against.
If the Leafs acquire another top 9 winger, I think the goal would be someone who can score more with the hope that ROR could provide an equally effective defensive game as Kerfoot.
Even with my personal dislike for Kerfoot, I'd agree that with Engvall gone it doesn't make sense to just unload him for nothing. However, I think he can be upgraded on quite easily, especially with the new complexion of the bottom 6.
Why?beyond the obvious shit that this guy says - his takes are horribad
Bertuzzi would fit this team like a glove, despite his down year. Him or Crouse. I like Crouse because of the age and term, but would obviously cost more. Either way, a big, gritty, tough LW who can score and throw his weight around a little bit is the one last ingredient we need IMO.What would it take?
Who did he trade for this morning?Dubas is slipping. He hasn't made a trade in the last 2 hours.
If his off-ice issues is not an issue (travelling, visa, etc), then I think Boston's first, a prospect like maybe Hirvonen? and a cap dump is pretty fair if we also assume Bertuzzi would be at 50%.
I have no idea how accurate his travelling issues are though and it seems like the Red Wings are still on the fence about selling.
first he mused that leafs could take on gavrikov and korpisalo after we had traded for gustaffson and schenn - and the return going back was astronomical. Then he suggested that leafs could take on quick as his bro in law is matt moulson - a first year scout for the leafs. Why?
I'd like to think Knies is a depth option, not a go to. I'd be shocked if they hinge a pretty important role on a player that might not join them until the last week of the season. Leafs can't count on him being ready for the NHL right away either. There's no way in my eyes. They didn't change 30% of the roster just to give Knies a spot.
What names did you have in mind?

Keep thec2023 1st rd pk a really good draft.Bertuzzi would fit this team like a glove, despite his down year. Him or Crouse. I like Crouse because of the age and term, but would obviously cost more. I think like some others have said, Boston's 1st and filler probably gets it done.
The thing is, we have to consider the role too. If he is taking ZAR minutes, he effectively is a role player. He'd be playing 10-11 minutes a night in probably the easiest role we have. We aren't asking him to be a top 6 guy or a gamechanger. Be better than ZAR and you are good.
It is the same thing with having all of these huge trade ideas to upgrade ZAR. Other than him, everyone in our lineup has played 3rd line minutes this year. Why do we need another guy who handles large minutes? We need effectively a 4th line guy who knows how to score more than a guy who will barely get to double digits in points by the end of the year.
Knies fits that perfectly.
He can't have that much value, IMOI wonder if Dvorak would still be an option? If the Leafs move Holl for a 2nd rounder. Then trade a 1st, 2nd and someone like Steeves or Hirvonen for a retained Dvorak?
Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Tavares - O’Reilly - Nylander
Jarnkrok - Dvorak - Lafferty
Kerfoot - Kampf - Acciari

Deal confirmed.
Seems to be at par with most of the prefix list on HF. Just because it didn't happen factually doesn't mean that Dubas wasn't trying to acquire some of these names.first he mused that leafs could take on gavrikov and korpisalo after we had traded for gustaffson and schenn - and the return going back was astronomical. Then he suggested that leafs could take on quick as his bro in law is matt moulson - a first year scout for the leafs.
yes seravalli - because every contender would like a 876 goalie with a 5m+ caphit.
Look at his twitter feed, rampant with silly suggestions and thoughts.
