Honestly, think it's a high probability that Chychrun becomes a draft trade for Phoenix, and they end up taking less than they could have had for him at the tdl. Seems like they're being greedy
If that's the case I would tell Arizona to F off if I was Chychrun and not play another game for them. Had all last off season to move him and didn't, then sat him this entire month just to wait until this upcoming off season.

Next target has to be for a forward I think. A middle 6 forward. And going off of Dubas's deadline so far...the middle 6 forward will have some grit and tenacity and/or size

Really want Bertuzzi

Detroit is still in the wild card mix so I would think they would hold onto him, although they just lost back to back to Ottawa which was their big chance to pull away a bit and jump some teams.

Anyone else that fits that role?

They also specifically traded for McCabe and Schenn to address physicality on the blueline, so one of the reasons they moved Sandin, was because he simply wouldn't play (or would barely play). Same applies to Gus - he's not walking into the same situation Sandin had a few weeks ago, he's walking into the situation that got Sandin traded.
Okay, so you're saying the Leafs chose to downgrade their team for hits (despite being a heavy possession team) and are going to choose to not use the defenseman on pace for 50+ points because they can use Luke Schenn or Justin Holl instead?

Doesn't seem likely to me, but I'm one of the few people who think we "fixed" something that wasn't broken, potentially made it worse (unless Holl is traded and Gus plays) and downgraded our bottom-6 losing Engvall.

Looking at all the selling teams, or perhaps even the teams looking at making some form of changes, there aren't that many available LW that fit the narrative of the deadline so far. I keep going through names and scenarios... it's hard to pinpoint what they might be able to do.

I wonder if the Flyers, who have been VERY quiet for a team that really sucks, would trade a better piece than just JVR. Laughton would fit a lot what the Leafs wants but he's a little pricey for what he provides and I'm sure the Flyers like him a lot. Same goes for Columbus and Jenner.

Another team I wonder about are the Ducks. The one player that I think would be fantastic is Troy Terry. Seems impossible they give him up but maybe something works here? He's 25 years old, had a 37 goal season last year but still on pace for 28 goals or so. He's a pending RFA but with a sub 2M cap hit. Maybe there's a chance the Ducks don't want to sign him long-term and would like to sell high?

Need a winger to compliment ROR on the 3rd line.

You know who I really just want to go all in for?

Boone Jenner.

Give up the Boston 1st. Trade the 3rd you for next year from the Isles. Give them a prospect if you need to and just get rid of Kerfoot and Holl for whatever you can get (or just give them to Columbus).

Could we imagine a

Knies - Jenner - Jarnkrok 3rd line
Acciari - Kampf - Lafferty 4th line

ZAR becomes your extra forward. Who can come in if Knies needs to come out.

I dunno, he would just be the perfect compliment to this roster

Honestly, I like Terry a lot better than a bunch of the names that have been thrown around. Not sure if Anaheim would move him. He would be a great pickup, is friends with Matthews and is still RFA.

But why? What about the border issue?

Any chance St Louis would move Buchnevich? Kerfoot and Holl out would be enough to cover his cap. St. Louis could flip both for mid round picks I think. 2023 1st + what else would be reasonable?

I think trading Engvall created a bigger hole today than there was on the team yesterday. We're lacking any semblance of transition play and chance creation in our bottom-6 besides Kerfoot & to a lesser extent Jarny.

Ideal/realistic lines for me right now:

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
ROR-Tavares-Marner
Kerfoot-Kampf-Jarnkrok
Holmberg-Accari-Lafferty
ZAR

Rielly-Gus/Holl
McCabe-Brodie
Giordano-Liljegren
Schenn

Give me a 3C or 2W to push Kampf down the lineup.

I think Detroit knows it's going to be tough to compete in the playoffs even if they make it. Think they'll move Bertuzzi

Great fit! Jenner has a ton of term, I believe. I’d be surprised if Columbus deals him.

If he’s avail - I hope we make an offer.

Too expensive this year and too many years.

Not that HF posters would know more than Jarmo, but Columbus posters are pretty adamant Jenner would not be traded unless it is for a severe overpayment, like one no team would want to pay. So I wouldn't expect him to be available.

Jenner seems like the slam dunk pick up. I’d give up both 1sts+ it CBJ swapped Murray for Korpisalo too. That would make the cap work without moving Kerfoot/Holl.

Too many years so STL won't move him? Because he's only 27, 3 years is good for us. Holl/Kerfoot out covers the cap so unless expensive means acquisition cost?

I just don't think he's cheap enough going into next year to fit with so many people to re-sign and juggle. I also don't think Holl + Kerfoot fits enough of a cap dump because they'd be taking on ~300k more.

He's obviously really good though so it's not a bad idea. I like him.
