I find player comps so useless because each player is so different.

Murata - Best vision and playmaking ability
Wycisk - Best goal scorer
Warren - Best skater
Delisle - Best all round (no real weaknesses) + toughness
McGregor - Best compete + 2 way game
Thank you! This is good to know. Is it really between the top 3? Like not much separation in their ability. I guess what I’m asking is there’s no real favourite?

I don't think there's a clear favorite for first overall. If I had to put money on it, I think it's between Murata, Delisle and Wycisk. But if you look at some lists, people have Warren #1. I think it'll come down to team preferences, their evaluations and interviews of these top players.

Last year it was clearly Belchetz with Valentini going to USHL

Year before it was clearly Schaefer, with Roobroeck and Martin not far behind.

This year is a little but tougher, but if you watched the GTHL game last night, Murata was clearly the best player on the ice.

How big/small is MacGregor? As an Ottawa Valley kid withthe 67’s likey picking early, I could see them going in that direction with the 4th/5th pick if they end up there.
Another local Ottawa kid, to keep your eyes on, is Brayden Bennett (Toronto Titans). A complete players in all aspects of the game (speed, power, compete and high hockey IQ). Bennett is elite!

Ottawa is likely picking top 5-6. I think the top 5 or so seem to be mostly consistent in the rankings right now. Of course, the OHL Cup could make a difference when it rolls around but as of right now, I am not sure he goes that high.

Bennett has all the tools, just needs to put it all together. He'll be a good player at the next level. Late first round pick in the 15-25 range I would think. Could see him in the 10-15 range if a team really likes him.

probably a mid 1st round pick. he has some issues to work on is all id say. hes hurt for a while now.
I currently have Bennett flip-flopping between 10-9 on my rankings. His skating is so impressive. His play in the OHL cup will ultimately decide his draft position. Nonetheless an interesting first round player to track.

Could any of the top 5 fall down a bit in the draft or are they pretty likely to be the higher picks?

Also, who’s the premier power forward in this draft? Who’s the heavy hitter on D?

Power Forwards
- Delisle (TT) 1st rounder
- Ardagh (JRC)1st rounder
- Lammens (TRW)1st rounder (more speed and skill than power but still some elements to his game)
- Bennett (TT)1st rounder
- Roberts (JRC) 1st/2nd rounder
- Lappalainen (SCP)1st/2nd rounder
- Hayes (Windsor)1st/2nd rounder
- Murray (HPL)1st/2nd rounder

Heavy Hitter on D
- Kunopaski (OVT) 1st / 2nd rounder
- Kut (DMF) 2nd/3rd rounder
- Martin (Barrie) 2nd-3rd rounder

Those are a rare breed this draft class

Wow so all will be highly coveted

Oakville - 1 vs Halton - 3, last night had some OMHA west players show off why they are top third in the draft rankings. Mainly #93 Forrest, great speed, vision with the puck, game changer. #66 Del Piorre, good hands, vision, quick release. #79 D'Amico, very smart on the back end, with some offensive threat when he pushed forward. #17 Semenstov, although small, very quick, and dangerous on the counter attack. He made a heck of a pass to #14 Scarpelli, who scored the game winner on a one timer. That line has all 3 in top 5 in scoring in the OMHA. The East will have equally have some good games coming up with Barrie, Ajax and York Simcoe all within a few points of each other. The kids really put on a show.

NOHA released the final selection camp roster for the NOHA OHL Cup team. 2009's were held in the North U18AAA north league (said would hurt the league... what about the exposure down south, development and more playing their draft year piers...) as the younger NOHA ages (U15AAA, U14AAA, U13AAA) started being allowed to play in Alliance / OMHA. At least the NOHA 2009's are getting some looks after the 2008 U15AAA hounds team were a top 10 and went to year end finals (then all mostly left town as U16AAA wasn't approved in time), this group included Brock Chitaroni playing a year up, Luca Blonda, Nik Rossetto, Cole Wreggitt, James Elliot and many more drafted, 09's have plenty of talent as well, just a little less cohesive than the 08's. Needless to say, it is not easy to bring a group who aren't coached / practice together and play top teams in OHL cup, wishing them luck.
