I think getting a starting goalie at the TDL is really voodoo.

1. Goalies need to adjust to playing a new system with new teammates
2. Getting used to new surroundings.

Thats why if there is a new goalie, Demko is probably a better choice due to Ranford(think thats his name) already trained with Demko back in Vancouver.

Jesus, my whole day off from work plans today have been tossed out the window thanks to all this madness.

Kinda want to just step away for a bit (which is what I'm gonna do)

This is easily the craziest trade week I've witnessed as a Leafs fan, and I've been fully in for over 20 years.

Mad respect to Dubas for just going nuts like this.........wouldn't have expected it.

Holl is better all-around if you need a guy to play 20 minutes and not suck at it, but assuming we have 5 of those all-situations roles handled between Rielly, Brodie, McCabe, Gio, Liljegren, running Gustafsson/Schenn on an as-needed basis makes more sense than running Holl for 12 vanilla minutes a night. I can see a scenario where we need Gustafsson's shot on the PP or Schenn to move Tampa's heavy 4th line guys out from the front of the net being a lot more likely than one where Holl getting nothing done for 12 minutes is a deciding factor in a series.

To me, Muz's money is ROR's contract. Engvall's contract is Acciari. McCabe's money is Holl's money.
I am assuming Murray will stay and Sammy's raise will be part of Kerfoot's money and the rest of Kerfoot's money will be Lafferty.

By my calculations, Leafs can offer 2.5mil for Bunting. Ofcourse, I actually trust Dubas to make it works.

Sure but we need A goalie, like we have to get a goalie of some sort. We can't be doing all this, and roll with Samsonov, Murray and Woll.

Just too risky about injuries. A goalie has to be the final move.

You can't upgrade every position and not upgrade the most important one or add some depth to it

Can we fit in Talbot as a third string goalie ?

People always bring this up and it doesn't make sense. Where are you putting Talbot? Is he just magically going to not count towards the cap or roster space?

When the Leafs added a 3rd stringer years ago from Calgary (the name escapes me) they had a taxi squad and it made sense since their goaltending was not as good as it is now.

I agree, been getting texts from Nucks friends, as I live in Vancouver, all day. And I told them, if I am Dubas, I am going all in on a goalie, but just don't know who.

Gibson, I trust his abilities but he plays for the Ducks. What if he is really declining as well as Ducks just sucks.
Demko is a possibility but he just came out of LTIR and he really hasn't play at the level he did during the playins.
Kospo, no way I trust him.

Well put. With McCabe brought in Holl has been passed with four guys ahead of him who can handle 20 minutes a night and do so better than him. What is Holl gonna do on the third pair? He can’t run a PP and he isn’t strong enough to defend the front of the net. Liljegren would be better in those minutes and you’d get the added bonus of Lily getting needed experience.

Part of it is also RHD insurance. If one of Brodie or Liljegren get injured, Schenn or Timmins are now in your top 4 if you move Holl. Though i do understand your point that Gustafson / Schenn fill more specific needs.

If one of Rielly or McCabe get injured, Gio is still there to step into the top 4, so Gustafson isn't as necessary for injury concerns.

(ex. Holmberg, McMann, Simmonds, Knies?)

McCabe - Brodie
Rielly - Schenn
Giordano - Liljegren
(ex. Gustafsson, Holl, Benn, Timmins, Mete)

Samsonov
Murray
(ex. Woll)

Am I forgetting anyone? Have to think there's another move somehow here. One of Gustafsson/Holl out?

Don't see us bringing in a goalie at this juncture. Samsonov has done fine as a starter, Murray is good in the backup role, and Woll looks solid as the 3rd goalie.

If Samsonov/Murray don't do well in the playoffs then perhaps we can look for a longer term solution in the off-season.
