All the Dubas additions have a clear define role on the team. Thats why this is a very different than two years ago when we won the North Division.
The TDL for the North Division was pretty much adding depth, beside Foligno, Hutton, BigSaveDave, Nash...
But all the players this year are not just adding depth but rather they have a purpose in the lineup and that purpose is something the Leafs lacked over the past few years.

Found this on main boards, possibly fake but still pretty funny

It's true.

Also if that's true I'm very curious what kind of trade it is where Sandin wouldn't have worked as a trade chip but a late first will.
This is supposed to be a great draft. A team like Vancouver is loaded on the left side. Arizona doesn't want to pay anyone and would rather ELCs. Some teams probably think Sandin is what he is, a mediocre top 4 d man at best and would rather try their luck. It makes sense

I was talking with KB the past few days.

We really need to enjoy this Leafs team bc I don't think we will ever see a Leafs team as talented as this one.
Honestly from the backend, I don’t see us really dropping off after this year.

I think Giordano will get a way easier workload next year as his game will also drop off given his age.

Schenn should be an easy re-signing if he works well with Rielly.

McCabe - Liljegren
Rielly - Schenn
Brodie - Timmins
Giordano

Murray/Samsonov - Woll

Best case scenario with Sandin, sad as I am, is that he ends up like say Kapanen for us or Nedeljkovic for the Canes, two players who's organizations rightly cut bait with at peak value.

Honestly, of everyone on the current Leafs, for sure Holl and Kerfoot won't come back. Bunting is the only forwards who might price himself out.
I see ROR, Acciari both resigning with the Leafs.

Do the leafs make a run at Demko?
That will be huge. Maybe Dubas can sell them Hutch, and just point to what Mrazek is doing for the Hawks with the tank, lol.

I still can't see how Gustaffson fits into the lineup. We need to trade a defenseman, I'd rather make it him to preserve a little more continuity/chemistry
He is 800k and is good depth. From what I read, he doesn't PK not physical but can move the puck, pass and got size.

The Coyotes have

3 Firsts
8 Seconds
7 Thirds

In 2023, 24, 25. That's pretty impressive and image how many more if the actually do the Chychrun trade. They will have to hit on few, blind squirrel can find a nut

I think Washington is the best place for him too. With Carlson out and Gus traded he could get force-fed PP time with their big guns. Their defence is almost all UFAs so he'll get the minutes to prove himself.
Just because you keep saying it, doesn't mean it is true.

Rielly, Brodie, Gio, and Liljegren - we can probably all agree none of them are leaving.

Schenn - we just traded for him, so not him.
Timmins - we just re-signed him to a two year deal, so very likely not him.

Which leaves Gustafson or Holl, and i agree, Gustafson makes more sense. Holl knows our system, is better defensively, and is way more likely to play if here.

Demko or Gibson pls. Would be odd to see a 2nd move so quickly with Vancouver but trades like that have happened this time of year

I can guarantee the Leafs won't acquire a goaltender of that magnitude. They won't acquire a single goaltender probably either.

And Gibson sucks.

You're probably right about them not making a move like that unfortunately.

Gibson is as legit as they come. Anyone would struggle with that Anaheim team and he's really turned it on again lately

With that backend the defencemen come in at 19.3 million with Schenn re-signed at 1.5 million.

Goaltending assuming Samsonov gets 3.5 on a 2 year deal and Woll is the backup it totals to 4.3 million.

Total of 23.6 million. I think we’ll have enough to re-sign Bunting and O’Reilly.

Let's look back at around the Chychrun draft to compare:
5x 1st
2x 2nd
8x 3rd

in 2015, 2016, 2017

They have Keller and Chychrun to show for it, both of whom are now going to be moved for more picks because both their salaries are going up by 3mil in a year or two. The cycle of life is a beautiful thing.
