I don't care about the last 3 years, I care about this year and I'd rather have every player I mentioned and more over Kerfoot.

because even if they provided the exact same offense they aren't going to do stupid things like put the team down 5 on 3 in a game 6 like Kerfoot did because Kerfoot is an idiot.

And whats kerfoot really did, playing hard in a 1v1 battle, get his.stick lift and hit hedman face because of it? Kind of thing happening to everybody, its just an unlucky play...

If you want to blame someone at least blame it for the right reason and not because he play too hard trying to waste more ice time possible of tampa pp

It's not hate, he did it, he put them down 5-3 and arguably cost them the series

I'm more pissed about him not burying that partial breakaway in game 6 OT. The "high stick" on Hedman was bullshit and never should have been called, esp after Foote sold the first one.

If Puljarjavi can't get much in terms of a pick/prospect, I wouldn't expect anything for our eventual cap dump.

Do you know how big Hedman is? You need to reach WAY up there to high stick him.

I don’t blame the refs one bit on the Kampf penalty. I mean, it’s a masterful sell job by Foote tbh, and at full speed, I don’t know how a ref, from the angle he had, could tell it was embellishment.

I wouldn't trade Kerfoot for JP straight up. Kerfoot's a much more useful and effective player.

Ehhhh not sure about that. I think they probably seen as similar impact players but one has a lot more room to grow because of his draft pedigree and he's a bigger player.

They also want the capspace that someone not playing the NHL provides them with ... which is probably why they did that.

You really had to pay attention to know he was playing.

He really is a dump, and has not been useful.

He's only in the NHL due to his draft position.

He's still a good player. He's got a lot of tools but the toolbox needs work. He just can't score/produce.

I'd much prefer to take a shot at Puljujarvi than to get Kerfoot if I was given the choice. And he's a RFA versus Kerfoot a UFA.

Puljujarvi still has the remainder of his $3 million salary left......while Kerfoot has the remainder of his $750K salary left.

Big difference to take on when you look at how much is being paid for retention.

Leafs can retain on Kerfoot to get an even better return if they don't plan on anymore adds.

That's a decent point but most teams won't care about it. The cap hit is what matters for teams that trade for these players.

I don't see any overly cheap teams that want a pending UFA that is paid peanuts in salary versus cap hit.

Also, Puljujarvi is a RFA which matters a lot.

If he was paid half of his current cap hit, you give him a reclamation stint.

Maybe getting away from his draft location will help.

Do they have to offer him a raise to retain him in the summer?

I agree with a great deal of what you post, but I call bs here.

Top 6:

Kucherov - 2g
Palat - 3g
Stamkos - 2g
Point - 2g
Cirelli - 1g
Killorn - 0g
Total : 10 goals

Matthews - 4g
Nylander - 3g
Tavares - 3g
Marner - 2g
Bunting - 1g
Kerfoot - 1g
Total : 14 goals

Bottom 6:

Colton - 3g
Paul - 2g
Perry - 2g
Hagel - 1g
Maroon - 1g
Bellemare - 1g
Total : 10 goals

Kampf - 2g
Mikheyev - 2g (both empty nets)
Blackwell - 1g
Engvall - 0g
Kase - 0g
Spezza - 0g
Simmonds - 0g
Clifford - 0g
Total : 5 goals

Our bottom 6 was wrecked.

Fair enough. Although some of those goals came while playing with top 6 guys or on the PP, one was an EN for Tampa, and our top 6 was on the ice for as many goals against as our bottom 6 against them. Their 4th line scored twice against our top 6.

Some of our guys' goals also came when we were already losing 5-0 too. So maybe last year it was more timeliness than anything. And the PP... We did have more goals than them in the series overall, but the PP wasn't great.

Tampa may have not been the best example. Scoring wasn't a big reason why we lost. Sub .900 goaltending and reffing was the more glaring issue.

Although the MTL numbers were unacceptable from the top guys. Spezza had more goals than Hyman, Matthews, and Marner combined.

I’m really torn between Engvall or Kerfoot. Engvall brings a lot of physical attributes you want in a bottom six forward but Kerfoot brings the hustle and grind while seeming to be more involved in the core group here.

It basically comes down to who has performed better in the playoffs to date and I think Kerfoot wins there.

Not 100% sure about his future contract but I don't think it will be hard for them retain him at a cheaper rate with some term. They have 30M or so in cap space I think, I don't think it's a problem for them.
