Of course that applies to any trade. The point is if the Leafs made the same trade i have absolutely no doubt he would have a vastly different opinion.
No idea, seems a silly thing to care about.

NJ fan here, just chiming in as i said on the main board. go get Nick Jensen & i think the leafs can win it all. he is legit & super underrated IMO. him slotting in next to rielly would be huge. then keep that gio-lilg pairing i assume. bottom pair then can become Brodie with whomever. Would be nice balance amongst the six.

Nashville asking for 8 picks, and a former first rounder for Ekholm...

Thank you for the comment. I tend to agree...really underrated guy. I can't figure out if Washington is selling, or what they are doing.

It's a pretty clear trading for Jeannot is an attempt at targeting the soft d-core of the Leafs and to a lesser extent Boston. They're betting the physical play will force them off their games and make them turn the puck over. Also, the Leafs don't have anyone who can match up front if it comes to that.

Hits, fights, scores, aggressive on the forcheck and finishes his checks.

Jeannot would have been a perfect fit on the Leafs for the same reason TB went all-in on him, knowing that Toronto and Boston are all going to have to sort it out with only 1 coming out of the Atlantic still standing after 2 rounds.

Toronto propped up their forward ranks and improved their forward depth. Boston propped up their Dcore which is already #1 in GA and TB went all in adding a power forward that they feel can impact a series.

All 3 teams have now made their key moves in the arms race, so it will be interesting to see which one of the 3 TD trades returns the best investment in terms of playoff round advancement.

PS. I'm a big Ryan O'Reilly fan so I like the Leafs move, but also willing to accept BOS and TB moves made the opposition better and harder to play against as well.

No thanks to Ekholm then...seems like its a seller's market after Bolts making some crazy ass norms.

I think the Caps are in a retooling mode, not a rebuild or scorched earth build. They wanna cash in still with Ovie and did well with some of their young resigning Milano and maybe Strome (still not sure what he is  )

I would like Dubas to finally grow a pair and trade Kerfoot. Holmberg is a fine replacement on the 4th line.
That high stick in game six was as much Hedman's fault as his. If only he could have scored on the little breakaway in OT in game 6, his legacy would have been much different on here. While I would prefer to use his cap hit for other things, I am fine with Kerfoot in the lineup

Gudas being available is interesting. Leafs almost signed him a few years ago. I would have to think Dubas is extremely interested.

This would be the correct answer.

Bring in Jensen, bring in Comtois, and Lafferty if the price is cheap (unlikely).

@TF1970; congrats on bringing in Meier for the price of a song. You guys are my quiet pick to surprise these playoffs. I like how your Team is coming together.

I feel so dirty now...... ;)

I don't think so. Also, the Wild need cheap contributors, and he's one... I'm not sure he's on the block.
That's fair...The only other place I can think of is with the ducks. Where we are looking at guys like Comtois, Henrique or if we are very lucky jones? with kullikov? I dunno seems like we are one more trade waiting

Ideally tbh...I'd want Gudas.

We can hope and thanks. Congrats on Meier...your core is going to be a blast to watch for the next decade from the looks of it!

Already had some discussiom about him and most of people are agree hw should be a target

Gudas flyers version? Hell yes.

Current gudas? We walked him so many times when we played him, don't think he'd do much for us unfortunately.

I mean i think the current gudas hell the current panthers are....something different compared to what they were before. He's mean and has a bit of a bite I think we can use in the back line for sure.

Speaking of Flyers...I think we are good dance partners too but I dont know what is the cost and who are is available atm.

I'd love if we got Jensen, really think he'd do a job for us.

Friedman says on 32 Thoughts there is interest in Jensen but that the Caps are trying to sign him. Damn it.
Makes sense but hopefully that falls through. I think Friedman had mentioned that they'd look at extending Jensen, Gustafsson, & TVR but likely at least 1 gets moved... Jensen is on another level from Gustafsson & TVR.
Florida fan lurking because well we won't the playoffs.

Bennett is not available per our sources.

Gudas could be and could make sense given the rumors of beefing up the third pairing against Jeannot. Thoughts?. Paul Maurice: Florida Panthers Not Selling at NHL Trade Deadline
Leafs should be in on Gudas if he were made avalible, have their been any extension talks with Gudas or confidence that he'd resign? Looks like Florida has a lot more cap flexibility this upcoming season.

If McCabe were a true RHD, I'd be all for a McCabe-Lafferty package, and then telling Tampa to bring it, but he isn't, and I think we are going to have to look at Brodie on LHD as soon as next year for Gio's inevitable decline. That would leave us RHD of Liljegren, Timmins, and Niemala. Considering Holl gone as a UFA (he's not worth what his Market price will be).

We need to a true RHD to not only improve our overall defence, but also to allow Timmins and Niemala some time to further develop.

That's why I'm on board with Jensen, Peeke, Matt Roy, Murphy, and Weegar (when Leprechauns ride Unicorns as they pull Santa's sleigh, I know.........)

McCabe becomes that LHD, Brodie stays where he is, Gio drops to third pair. Next years' RHD is Brodie/Liljegren/Timmins
