Real nice pickup for the Bruins, they just got bigger and better.
Man the East is an absolute f***ing gauntlet. The Leafs have to get through Tampa and Boston and then play Carolina/NYR/NJD in the ECF. Brutal.
What is the compensation in the event they become top 10 picks? Obviously they won't, but I am just curious.Tampa’s deal with the Hawks for Hagel was for both the 2023 and 2024 picks. - not one or the other. The only condition is that they are top ten protected.
The Leafs don’t have a 2nd this year and possibly not until 2026 but we won’t know until the draft. Arizona can choose to take either the Leafs 3rd in 2023 or their 2nd in 2024.To Toronto-
Ekholm 50% retained
Jeannot
To Nashville-
Kerfoot
Sandin
Robertson
2024 1st Round Pick
2023 2nd Round Pick
Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Jeannot-Tavares-Marner
Knies-O'Reilly-Jarnkrok
Engvall-Kampf-Accari
AstonReese
Rielly-Brodie
Ekholm-Liljegren
Giordano-Holl
Timmons
TBH I'm not so sure that either guy we picked up is a rental. In fact, I bet that we retain ROR.
The only futures asset that is untouchable for me is Knies - so long as we don't trade him, we're ok. Our farm is still ranked around league average, which is pretty good.
Tampa and Boston have the two lowest ranked farms in the league and older stars. I think they're far more all-in than we are.
Ok, this is a small thing but nevertheless annoying.
The finals will probably be the easiest round for the east lolMan the East is an absolute f***ing gauntlet. The Leafs have to get through Tampa and Boston and then play Carolina/NYR/NJD in the ECF. Brutal.
So if the Leafs made it there somehow... they'd lose that round lolThe finals will probably be the easiest round for the east lol
I’m pretty sure they slide years. So, if the Bolts’ 2023 1st had been top ten, the Hawks would get the 2025 1st instead. What is the compensation in the event they become top 10 picks? Obviously they won't, but I am just curious.
Gonna have to pick b/w retaining Bunting/ROR. Cannot keep both especially with Nylander and Matthews coming for new contract soon.
Also dont think JT's caphit coming off will help much, b/c IMO about 90% of it will go into covering raises for Nylander, Matthews and Marner
Orlov was the best d on the caps when they won the cup.
Personally.
Bunting. Matthews. Nylander
Jarnkrok. Tavares. Marner
Kerfoot. Kampf. Engvall
ZAR. Acciari. Holmberg
Rielly. Brodie
Sandin. Orlov
Gio. Lilly
Is a much better lineup IMO
That's if the Eastern team isn't already beaten down from going through wars the first 3 rounds lolThe finals will probably be the easiest round for the east lol
Ironically if anything this reads more like a reactionary move from the Bruins after the Leafs formally started the Eastern arms race by getting their preferred target first
I’ll personally pick up ekholm from the airport for that lol. I think he’s worth more than that.Ekholm (1.2m retained)
Sandin
Kerfoot
Hirvonen
3rd rounder 2024
How's the value look on something like this?
This. Sweeney literally copied the deal Dubas made, almost exactly, except acquired two worse players.
I wouldn’t say worse, just different. I think each deal is better for each respective team but neither would want to give up that value for what the other got.
Bruins are stacked up front as it is. Pasta, Bergeron, Marchand, Zacka, Krejci, Hall, DeBrusk, Coyle. Better off solidifying their D.ROR > Orlov
Acciari > Hathaway
Would’ve said the same a week ago. Plus, ROR would’ve filled a bigger need for Boston.
Boston has the best record in the NHL .. Their team has a +92 goal differential on the season and they add 2 players that focus more on defense than offense.
They must believe "Defense wins championships"
Subban: Bruins look 'impossible to beat' after trade for Hathaway, Orlov
P. K. Subban says the Bruins look even better after trading for Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway.
Start on the 4th line and then move up if everything pans out .I have a lot of hype for Knies... But I don't think he can realistically play on the second line of an NHL team only a mere few weeks before the playoffs start that some are saying around here lol.
I'd be pleasantly surprised.
Still a week to go to TDL. We'll see if Dubas values D. Unless the Bruins do a Tampa and implode in the playoffs, I do not see them giving up many goals so we need to make sure we don't. We need to add a 20+ minute shutdown dman. Small ask eh ??Yeah I mean look what we got
A couple of forwards, ones a perennial selke candidate and both of them are gritty as hell but it's obvious we don't value defensive play like our competitors do
Never change Mess, never change
