Man the East is an absolute f***ing gauntlet. The Leafs have to get through Tampa and Boston and then play Carolina/NYR/NJD in the ECF. Brutal.
Basically. And we certainly can't have Samsonov/Murray (whoever's in) underperforming. This trade, at worst, puts us back in the same spot as we were a week ago before getting ROR.
Leafs can still match up and beat Boston. Or anyone for that matter. Nothing changes from the start of the year for us, and our opponent doesn't matter as much as having our guys perform to their abilities. That has been the problem every year.
Matthews has underperformed the entire year and we are still 4th in the league in points percentage. The issue is, we can't have Matthews or anyone else underperforming in the playoffs.
Oh boo hoo.
Pay the price, improve your team and try to win the cup.
Kerfoot cannot survive the Playoff attrition in the bottom 6 against Tampa and Boston. He needs to be traded

TBH I'm not so sure that either guy we picked up is a rental. In fact, I bet that we retain ROR.Never said give up. Continuing to give up assets for rentals will bite you in the ass before you know it.
As for the Canes and Meier, I like the Rangers better if they get Kane.
Yall already know what the streets is talkin.... they be saying the bruins got hathaway (exactly for him to break our defense). Thats also the rumor mill at the offices. I mean look at their team... and now this too:Man the East is an absolute f***ing gauntlet. The Leafs have to get through Tampa and Boston and then play Carolina/NYR/NJD in the ECF. Brutal.
Honestly, it doesn’t make that much of a difference bc they are already tough to play against.Tough team to play.
Boston is having a once in a generation season so it makes sense they go all in. Tampa has 2 SCs so they are playing with house money.TBH I'm not so sure that either guy we picked up is a rental. In fact, I bet that we retain ROR.
The only futures asset that is untouchable for me is Knies - so long as we don't trade him, we're ok. Our farm is still ranked around league average, which is pretty good.
Tampa and Boston have the two lowest ranked farms in the league and older stars. I think they're far more all-in than we are.
Nope .Personally would have preferred the Boston package
True and I feel like Seravalli just wanted to stir the pot. Kind of a silly tweet by him but it's getting the reaction.Leafs pick was 2025, Bruins pick is for this coming draft.
I suspect that is where the difference in value was.
O'Reilly 5.5 @4 yrs mil he will take over from JTBoston is having a once in a generation season so it makes sense they go all in. Tampa has 2 SCs so they are playing with house money.
Hoping they resign ROR. Maybe he takes a discount which leads to 34 and 88 to do the same and we can keep most of this cast together.
If they do, they will get him cheaper closer to the TD after everybody else at the table is left with no chips.if Tampa gets him I'd LMAO![]()

Listened to kyper a bit. He offered this train of thought
1. that Dubas showed his cards by trading for ROR.
2. With this trade he is going all in. He has to make more trades.
3. He has to be willing to trade Knies
He repeated the above points several times.
Then the punchline:
Do you think Dubad would be selfish and trade Knies to save his job?
What a shit disturber.
Trades don't work that way. He is now going to be considered a cap dump; Leafs would have to add to get rid of Kerfoot. They should have done that in the summer.
Unless Dubas has some good will with some other GMs where "you help me now; I will help you tomorrow"; moving kerfoot is gonna cost assets
Nope .
O'Reilly and Accuri is exactly what our forward group needed.
Defensively sound
Physical toughness
Both will drive to the net
They will teach our players what the playoffs are all about.
This was the best move

Ok, this is a small thing but nevertheless annoying.
This forces him to haveth us stronger players. Hell, they might even bring in the Schenn. Even some total hitter dirt guy like jeannot also for the playoffs. We need that there. Cant beat hathaway with kerfoot i am already telling that straight up. Period.Dubas will go in and get Kane and Chychun
