If the ask for barbashev is a 1 or a2nd + prospect

Kerfoot isn't he worth the same

Turn his asset into a better forward

If Philly is going into a rebuild would love
Scott Laughton

What would be the asking price ?

Stand pat at this point.

I value Holl more than Kerfoot, but if you can upgrade Holl, then that's the only other thing i'd look at doing. There aren't many definitive upgrades available though. This team's gotten slower, so moving Kerfoot would only worsen that, as frustrating as he is.

Been saying it for months but i'm not confident with the D core. The problem is, we have 7-8 NHL D and they're properly slotted right now. The D discussion will have to wait and be a priority over the next 1-2 off-seasons as Brodie/Gio expire. Only enough assets to address one major need and I think a centre add was the right move, but Giordano has looked ancient this past month and it's a sluggish blueline.

Giordano probably needs a few games off, he's been playing back to backs as the oldest defenseman in the league.

I would definitely upgrade on Holl, his 3 minutes of PK doesn't override his bad play the rest of the time.

I think Dubas needs to really go “all in” and go after Meier still. If things don’t work out this year, there’s definitely going to be big changes to Leafs management, coaching staff AND player personnel.

The core won’t remain intact and the Leafs will be able to recoup quite a few assets in the offseason. The cupboards won’t be emptied; they’ll just have different things in them.

He definitely needs time off but that will only benefit injury prevention. At his age, the mobility will continue to get stiffer no matter what you do. It's very visible lately, especially post-break.

I think he has it in him but he needs to be rested.

He took a lot on when Muzzin, Rielly and Brodie went down. I just don't think it can be a prolonged thing.

Don’t expect Keefe to do squad rotation with Gio. He cares more about public perception and optics than he does winning imo.

Leafs need some stronger d men, at least 1 if not 2. This D core is not going to help get them past Tampa. Dubas ain’t done, at least I hope so

Giordano probably wants to play. This isn't EA Sports NHL 2023. Coaches and players have relationships.

And there is still 20+ games. Why load manage now? And they just came back from a vacation. I'm sure when the season is close to done and the standings are locked in the Leafs will probably give some players that need it a game off.

Kevins reading my mind.

The Leafs ideally want a LD upgrade.....but Jensen in place of Holl might be a bump, but at what cost?

Orlov would be ideal.....but would require retention too............

There was a Caps poster who suggested Hathaway would fetch a first rounder. I chuckled at that. At the most I would think a Daniel Winnik package would get it done.
A 1st eh?

I was thinking a fairly depth-ish transaction for the 4th line. Winnik level package maybe if there's a lot of interest, I agree, but I wouldn't go much more than a prospect/young player and maybe a conditional pick if he re-signs.

We already got Acciari so the need isn't super strong but I could see it working out.

Yes, players and coaches have relationships, but the coach is the boss. Just like a parent and son, the coach sometimes has to do what’s best for the player even when the player doesn’t like it. That’s something that Keefe had never really grasped.

Though in reality how often does load management actually happen to vet skaters? Pretty rare regardless of the coach

He is the boss. Keefe makes those decisions all the time, just because your opinion is different it doesn't mean he doesn't do whats best for the player? He has sat out players many times for many different reasons, even health/load management reasons. I vividly remember Spezza sitting out for this reason from the top of my head.

Is Stamkos sitting out right now? What about Bergeron?

Brodie moving to LD can be the upgrade on LD, though I’d rather keep Sandin in the lineup over Holl.

Jensen would be a solid addition for sure.

Giordano's play has dipped for sure the last few months. Dude is old and had to take on a lot of responsibility, so cant blame him

I also thought he'd be more of a physical presence but isn't. Our defense is surely lacking a constant physical presence on a nightly basis. Something that both Tampa and Boston have and we dont

What does EA or a personal relationship have to do with giving a player some rest?

Teams don't start load managing months in advance. They just came back from vacation a week ago. Players don't like sitting out either, especially not someone that is as good as Giordano.

Find me a single team that is sitting out top players right now, not trade or health related.
