there's no way Tampa has the cap for that. They're really going to struggle to do anything big at the deadline with their lack of cap space and futures to deal.

The best they can do is probably add a Luke Schenn level player. They probably could use a goaltender as well since Elliott is terrible.

They could potentially flip someone like Cole or Namestnikov to create more cap space though.

They should look to add a good LW.

It'll put the finishing touches to the forward group with Knies as an additional option too.

I think the Leafs will try to flip J. Anderson for something. I was thinking maybe for Hathaway since he'd a good physical energy player to get but could be someone else that's left handed or can play LW.

Anderson has been really solid as a depth forward and probably could use minutes, he won't get them with the Leafs though. He's a RFA so likely could have some interesting value for teams retooling.

I also wonder how Jensen is valued? His defensive stats this year are very impressive.

I think we have plenty of talent up front we just need to distribute it better imo

Get ROR off the Tavares line so we almost always have one of Matthews Tavares or ROR on the ice

Then put Holmberg with ROR on the 3rd line and put either Kerfoot, Engvall or Jarnkrok with them, that would be a strong 2-way line that could be used in any situation and if you need a goal late you can always play ROR with Tavares then

I think that's the best usage of our resources and it stops us needing another top 6 forward we probably can't really afford assets wise

I also wouldn't mind giving Knies an opportunity just in case he proves he can play at this level

The best package the Bolts could out for Kane would be

2025 1st + Isaac Howaard their late 1st prospect(from 2022), Namestenkov for cap purposes and then a 3rd or 4th from 2023/2024 for the extra 25% retention

They could get him if they really wanted to and if Kane was willing to go there.

Just it would be 1 and done only

I have a hard time believing they'll keep Holmberg on the Marlies. I think they'll try to find a way to get him back on the Leafs one way or another.

Should be interesting to see how the Leafs approach the next 2 weeks.

How would you all feel if we traded Kerfoot and Engvall for picks and then use some of those picks to acquire another player like Hathaway. I think defense men Troy Stecher or Justin Braun could come for the cheap. Finally Kane is a player the leafs should try and acquire.

Kane would cost a 1st, 3rd, and prospect like Hirvonen and would be a steep price, but I'll let you all decide if the price is worth it. Kerfoot and Engvall could both fetch a 3rd pick + lower picks and one of the listed defence men would only cost us a 5th pick give or take.

You just know that if Kane ends up in Tampa or Boston, he’s going to torch us in the playoffs.
Which is why Dubas needs to continue to beef up the forward group. Otherwise the Bruins and Lightning are better in all areas.

I really liked him, I thought if he can play that way as a center what's he capable of on the wing with somebody of ROR caliber

I pretty sure he played as a winger in Sweden and his playoff record was stellar, you have to find a spot for the kid imo

I have a feeling Holmberg is our 4RW in the playoffs if our roster stays as such.

He’s got enough motor and skill to contribute and will be given a chance to acclimate to playoff hockey without the responsibility that comes with playing C.

ZAR-Acciari-Holmberg will not be a liability and has the potential to put up a few points given the chance.

Yeah, they're not retaining on an 8 year deal.

My guess would be Buffalo. They have cap space, a need on D, and an established trade relationship with Philly.

They're fairly loaded at LW already.

Dahlin (can go to RD)
Power
Samuelsson

You put ROR on the 3rd line then we have to move 1 of Kampf, Engvall or Kerfoot. Some will say ZAR but he is perfect for the 4th line and very reliable defensive player who can play a grinder role well for almost league minimum. If we do bring in Knies you'd assume he plays that 2LW most likely or start there because Marner is the perfect partner for him.

Kerfoot/Knies/Engvall-ROR-Jarnkrok
ZAR-Kampf/Accari-Engvall/Kerfoot/Accari

I've been wanting Kerfoot traded for an upgrade/cap reasons but if it were up to me I'd much rather him on ROR and Jarnkroks wing because he's a much better playmaker than Knies and Engvall. Unless we make a move for someone like Pulj who is a pretty good playmaker and forechecker to play 3RW while Jarnkrok either moves to 2LW or 3 LW.

Maybe Kerfoot and Kampf for Pulj and Ryan and a pick. Edmonton would have to throw in a pick because we take all the risk with this trade imo. Edmonton upgrades at 3C with Kerfoot and Kampf is basically Ryan but less offence. C depth there is now very solid for a playoff push/run. We're hoping Pulj can play up to potential with ROR as his C and on the 3rd line in a system that should let him play with the puck more. Ryan just gives us some more offense on the 4th line who can kill penalties and another pretty good faceoff guy.

Jarnkrok/Knies-ROR-Puljujarvi
ZAR-Ryan/Accari-Accari/Ryan

Idk if I love that 3rd line but it could be very good if Knies lives up to potential if he's on it come playoff time or if Pulj does. 4th lines instantly looks better with players who can grind it out and now got some people who can put the puck in the net. Just some thoughts while eating dinner. Got 1 package we could put together to make a run for a big fish imo with Kerfoot, Holl and Robertson and maybe a lower tier prospect. If not we we still got some players we could package or trade individually to improve depth scoring and maybe even get some picks along with them. Also, I know I forgot Engvall in that last lineup. I realized it too late after typing all this and I don't feel like fixing it so assume he got traded or replace ZAR for him or move Jarnkrok or Knies to 4th line and Engvall 3 LW. Up to y'all.

I approve of the first option. Get some assets and flip it in a three way.

Would you guys go for a Kerfoot for Greenway swap?

O'Reilly - Tavares - Marner

Bunting - Matthews - Nylander

Jankrok - Kampf - Greenway

Engvall - ZAR - Accari

Adds some snarl info the bottom 6. I don't see Kerfoot doing much in the playoffs this year.

I've always liked Greenway, but the problem is his caphit next season. I'd rather put that money towards an ROR extension

Kerfoot - O’Reilly - Holmberg
Engvall - Kampf - Acciari

That would be my bottom six set up.

I'd like to have it on file that I was very pro-Kane much much much before this game tonight.

We're about to see a flood of people "suddenly" change their minds about him, I wonder why.

I was hoping Toronto would pick up Kane and he would waive to come. Guy scores big goals in the playoffs. Oh well.

Hopefully ROR is a good pickup. Sounds like he's slowed down a bit this year though? (I've barely been able to watch the Leafs this season let alone other teams.)
