Kerfoot is completely redundant on this roster.

ROR and Acciari kill penalties.

They can play centre

I'd look to upgrade D and see if they can find something at LW to improve us a bit.

Nyquist on the cheap and a D?

It was interesting to hear Dubas' valuation of using the picks vs. prospects. And I agree with what he said in terms of knowing your prospects vs. what you don't in terms of picks. But I also think you should dip in to both your picks and prospect pool interchangeably.

He's used a lot of picks lately and that is fine, but after this deal I'd hope to put the breaks on it. I mean if it takes a mid pick to land a bigger fish than expected, fine. Or if it is more picks vs. Knies, fine. But I think at this point I'd rather see him dip into the Hirvonen/Voit/SDA etc.. range of players. I think you need to strike a nice balance. The 2020 draft saw 12 selections made, so after that I understood the picks going out vs. the prospects. But now I think it is time to swing back the balance the other way if at all possible.

Fans around here would groan at acquiring Hoglander because of his size but I would be ecstatic. He's really good and I'm puzzled why the Canucks don't value him much more.

It feels more like an off-season addition though.
It makes no sense at all. Almost a .5 PPG player as a 20 year old rookie with *very* strong play driving metrics in a middle-6 role, and they took over and said f*** this noise.

Save the kids career Dubas.

I agree with your overall sentiment and id rather we trade out those guys too, but we also don't know how teams value our prospects vs the Leafs and it could just simply more economical to continue dealing picks.

I don't think Robertson is ever going to be successful with the Leafs. I would ship Kerfoot and Robertson out for Barbashev (or a player like him).

I’m back on the go all in for Chychrun bandwagon. It appears the future is out the window with this trade.

24 1st, Sandin, Minten, Kerfoot for Chychrun
How can you say the future is out the window
Knies robertson nielma hirovinen minten
Amirov if he can come back

Not counting guys like holmberg mcmann steeves villeneuve timmins etc

The russian and swedish goalies
That statement is a bit of a stretch just seems like trolling with no facts or substance to back it up

Still think our biggest weakness is the left side up front. Hoping for an add there.

LWs from the trade bait board:
Meier
Bertuzzi
Nyquist
JVR
Greenway
Jeannot
Foegele

Meier isn't realistic, but the others could be if the price is right.

CJ says that the Leafs will be more $ in, $ out

Ex. F trade will mean Kerfoot goes the other way
D would mean Holl goes out

Won't be the blockbuster type trade.

Time for Dubas to

And that the top 3 players are all under 27 lol

my thinking of who the leafs should target if they are going all-in:

sean monahan

another thicc boy with scoring talent and consistently strong analytics. currently injured (just got back to practice in non-contacts). doable with a single retention in exchange for kerfoot (as starting point - prospect/pick(s) in the 2nd and 4th/5th range could be enough). would match well with tampa/boston.

augments offense, does PK and makes the Leafs harder to play against.

You aren't going to mention Monahan's incredible propensity for injury as an argument against?

IMO Monahan's a waste of assets with ROR as 3C. If ROR is 2LW then there's more of an argument for, but given his injury history I still think we ought to look elsewhere. I think our lineup is stronger with ROR as 3C and we find a better upgrade for 2LW, or perhaps a depth D.

I can't see us trading Holl, there's no defenseman out there that provides even close to similar impact with the same cap hit.

Kerfoot I can't see being moved even though he's a bit redundant. They clearly love him, and he's relatively effective anywhere in the lineup (obviously more effective further down). It just feels like a guy that wouldn't make sense to move unless a playoff team wanted to do a contract swap for better fits with similar cap hits? Puljujarvi? Kubalik? Niederreiter? Kapanen? Johnsson?

Yeah I struggle with a fit. In theory they could trade someone like Kerfoot to a playoff team for a pick, and then turn around and use that pick on whoever they like better or something but... Seems like trying to fix something that isn't really broken or making a move for the sake of it.

I dunno. Seems like a huge stretch. I can see the Leafs trading a prospect like Anderson for a veteran or something but that's about it.

Holl + a prospect could be an intriguing offer for a team, especially if they could flip Holl for a pick right after

Kerfoot and Holl likely hold 3rd-4th round pick value

Would you trade Kerfoot for JVR at 50% retained?

JVR could help the PP

I'm just trying to think of ideas.

EDIT

PP1
Nylander-Matthews-JT

Sandin-Marner

PP2
Bunting-ROR-JVR

Rielly-Jarnkrok
