Idk If we were to end up with the 15th overall pick for the next 2 years for example, it looks like a poor choice unless Matteau turns into a superstar. It bothers me that we could potentially lose a really high choice over a BS penalty that other teams should have received as well.

totally agree on the penalty being ridiculous. but knowing lou as i (think) i do, he's got a plan.

and, not for nothing, but you raise a good point. a lot of pressure was inadvertently dumped on the kid because of this penalty nonsense.

Would this fanbase be opposed to moving Mark Fayne++ for a upgrade on defence like Dan Boyle or just a single flip of Fayne for Havlat?

I'd actually do both deals in all honesty, even if I'm a big fan of Fayne, I think both deals make us a better team and with Urbom/Gélinas waiting for a shot to crack our lineup next year, we'd wouldn't be in that bad of shape.

We need more goals mate !!! ;)

And with the addition of either or, we'd get just that.

Boyle would bring our transition game, at even strenght, to a entire other level and we'd actually get a legit PP QB. Havlat is that top #6 forward we're asking for and I'd be ready to move a freaking d-men, since we have 8 of them, for some offensive punch.

Boyle: Fayne + Josefson + mid/late round pick
Havlat: Fayne

I would welcome both these moves, or something similar, to land one of those two players.

Boyle could help any team.

Why, oh why, would anyone want Havlat? He's probably the best scorer we'll ever have on our IR. It would take 2 minutes into the first period of the first Flyers or Bruins game he plays before they cart him off on a stretcher.

No way.

no thanks on Dan Boyle.

Yeah, we should stick with our handfull of #4's instead. If you at least brought up valid arguments as to why Dan Boyle wouldn't be a solid addition to our offensively Pejorative Slured blueline, you might actually get a point but turning down a legit #1 for a return like that wouldn't be the end of the world and would actually address a position of need... a solid transition game and someone who can Qb ou PP AND still be effective in his own end when playing 5 on 5.

beggars can't be choosers and if the return isn't all that high, you roll the dice. It sure as hell beats claiming Butler or Kostopoulos off waivers.

Yes to both of them

Boyle is the PP QB that would make our PP complete. See SJ's PP ??? No matter who the coach is, they have been top 5. Wanna know what the constant has been there ??? Dan Boyle

And Patty and Havlat can be BFFs again

I doubt he did. Otherwise, Semin would be a Devil right now.

Because Semin has no say to what team he plays for, right?

Why can't people understand that a GM can try their hardest to get a player and they can still turn them down..

Lou took the gamble that we would not be receiving any lottery picks in the next 2 years.

Otherwise, a 1st round pick in 2012 is more valuable than a 1st round pick in 2014

for what it would take to acquire a 36 year old Dan Boyle who isn't exactly good defensively, I would not want to pay. sorry.

Age is but a number, just look at Marty ;)

BTW, I'm not comparing a freak of nature to Boyle but if he's still productive at 36, I don't see why we should be afraid of him falling into pieces if he does come here.

The other constants on that PP have been Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau, and unless they're coming over with Boyle, I don't think he'll help the powerplay much more than Zidlicky.

Wishful thinking, that's all.

I am convinced that Lou didn't even give Semin's agent a courtesy call, let alone an offer anyway.

That's why I'm saying that Semin would be a Devil right now 'cause he would be playing alongside Kovy and on a team that WINS(mostly...lol).

Sure he can refuse but I think he wouldn't, IMO.
